    Trump’s assessment of The Times—you know, that publication that’s been around for over a century and a half with 117 Pulitzers, more than any other media organization in history, that has shaped national and international discourse and been an actual agent for change and progress—as a basically worthless institution with hack writers, tells you everything you need to know about how he views journalism and media. It’s his textbook reply of “discredit everything I don’t agree with” no matter how significant, and his followers are just like “yup, sure!”

    That he dismisses media he knows will criticize him is nothing new. That, again, he can outright lie about an institution that has made far more positive impact on the world than he ever will and not have it questioned by his supporters is, again, mind-boggling. For someone who tried to start his own (failed) university, the anti-intellectualism he pretends to espouse (but his voters definitely do) is disgusting.

    (The Times ain’t perfect tho, obviously)

    He’s really trying just selling his voters on this illusion that he can make it 1950 again, isn’t he? We’ll take all our manufacturing back from those dirty foreigners, we’ll magically make jobs for everybody, we’ll undo a lifetime of resentment in the Middle East by bombing the shit out of them, and we’ll openly discriminate against anybody black or brown! There won’t be any negative repercussions from any of this, because I say so!

    If we all clap hard enough, we can make globalization, basic economic theory, obvious facts about international relations, civil rights, and anything else that scares us disappear! We don’t have to evolve, the world needs to regress!

    It’s the fucking bass-akwards Tinkerbell approach to politicking. If you’re dumb and gullible enough, anything is possible!

          There was a time when I actually considered Trump a decent candidate. That time is long gone. This man needs stopping ..as in forever. He is definitely a danger to this country.

          The thing is this, last wild card was Palin, and I fear that they (the crazies) are getting closer and closer and more bold with even more supporters from now to every Presidential election in the future. If Trump doesn’t get it now, he or some other maniac may in the future.

          As the white race becomes less and less of a majority, there will be turmoil that is supported by some very vile folks. Things may get a lot worse before they get better, if they get better at all.

            My initial thought was that he would shake things up..that his ego would push him to make an honest effort to make things better. I was wrong.

            What I am really wondering is this: Who will be staying at any of his properties? I mean his main supporters are blue collar at best, who couldn’t afford the room service bill let alone the room cost

          Trump is an asshole, but those of you who suppose this is bad politics for him are mistaken.

          He is using race just like every other Republican does, sans dog whistle, avec bullhorn.

          All he needs are the racists in his Party to win the Republican nomination
