I wonder if any of the dudes who had breast reduction surgery were contending with 38Is like I do. And yet I still can’t get insurance to pay for the surgery! (I’m sure the men involved also didn’t have insurance coverage. I am merely pouting at being too poor to afford to not have my back kill me.)

38I!? my goodness, you poor soul. I’d want to hire two small children or very short men to help me carry them around all day.

I hope you get the reduction you want. If I may ask a question, how does one decide what size to go down to? I generally see people who have the higher sizes talk about a nice C or D. I’m a 34D and often think about getting a reduction because I just don’t like them, clothes fit weird and my back hurts (probably something to do with how I slouch because I don’t like attention drawn to them).

Yeah, I paid for my own reduction (it was also in conjunction with a tummy tuck and lipo cause vanity) because the rigmarole to get my insurance to cover it was asinine. Luckily for me, my now ex husband had the means to pay for the whole shebang, of which he got to see or enjoy exactly none of it cause we splitsvilled as soon as I was done recovering.

Soooo I am a dude, I hade this done was I was 16. I am/was always fairly athletic, so low body fat but when I turned 15 I noticed a growth beneath one of my nipples. Apparently some percent of teenage boys, due to hormones develop breast tissue. Most will simply lose it again as they grow older...but mine lasted a whole year and the taunting I received almost made me suicidal. When I found out it could be medically removed I harassed my mother until she took me to the doctors to get it done. Not sure about all the situations...but for me at the time I didnt consider it cosmetic I considered it a respite from hours of torment every gym class or whenever I took off my shirt.

So hopefully people will not look at this as too much of a haha subject...I hit the gym everyday after work, and I still hesitate to take my shirt off at the pool 20 years later.

ugh teenagers are so fucking mean. I’m glad you got it fixed and are at least somewhat more comfortable.

Honestly, just remember...as an adult, no one really cares (at least, the people worth their salt don’t). Enjoy your pooltime with no worry, friend.

Ugh, I had a reduction when I was 18, and had to put up with so many patronizing, negative comments about it. Girls asking me to give them my “extra”, and boys knocking me for getting rid of what they considered to be an awesome rack. Never mind that it was getting me constant, unwanted sexual attention and ruining my back- why would anyone choose to get rid of naturally large breasts was the overwhelming response I received. (The worst was one of my guy friend’s dad; he quoted Princess Bride about ruining perfect breasts.) I’m 99.99% sure that none of the men who got reductions got feedback like that.

Yes, a teenage boy who has breasts won’t get harassed. What fucking world do you live in?

He won’t get derided for his decision, no. What world would shame a boy who doesn’t want large breasts? The same that would shame a girl for not wanting them.

I wonder if insurance coverage is higher for men with gynecomastia than just for women with larger breasts and back issues. That may account for such a large percentage, because that surgery is $$$.

I’m a guy with gynecomastia. While I’m fairly secure and comfortable with it now, when I was younger—espeically during high school and college—I would absolutely have had surgery if I could have afforded it. I’ve recently lost quite a bit of weight, which has made it even more apparent, and I’ve been considering surgery at some point down the road, so I can certainly understand why guys would have this done, but 40 percent seems like a huge number.

If it’s a huge number, then maybe it’s a good thing that it’s being talked about openly here. Maybe gynecomastia is much more common than we realize, because so many men live with it in silence. My partner has it and the shame he experiences around it is heartbreaking. It’s just a thing that happens, not a personal failing :/

Now they just need to come up with an effective surgery for increasing the size of your wang and we can really narrow the gap.

    Well, or widen it.

If you want to reduce your breast size: lose weight.

      This applies to both genders...

Holy hell this is a painful surgery.

But if you’re curious, they cut off you nipple and reattach it, and then you lose all your nerve feeling in your man nips.

Worst party is, all those catty gays at the local bar that you want to impress because you want to sleep with them to make yourself feel worthy of love - yes, even the fat hairy daddies - judge you because you tried to deal with your ugly horrible fleshy melting body with surgery, and then they call you trans behind your back because you have scars on your chest.

The male gaze sucks for everyone :(
