    Nazis (aka the National Socialists)

    Checkmate, liberals.

Just like the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea is any of those things, or the Democratic Republic of Congo is any of those things, or the Holy Roman Empire was any of those things.

What’s funny is I’ve been reading up on this lately and at first the Nazi party DID have a socialist redistribution intent. A certainl Hitler-y fellow decided he liked the National-ist half, but not so much the socialist. And so he had Ernst Rohm and all those people liquidated:

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_of_…

Presumably they already had the signs and T-shirts printed so stuck with it.

I GUARAUNTEE Jeffrey Lord’s dumb ass knows nothing about this and is just spouting the name though.

Glenn Beck used to recite the famous, “First they came for...” when he was complaining that everyone from Barack Obama to the rude waiter at IHOP was a Nazi.

It was amusing watching him mumble and yada-yada-yada his way through the parts where the Nazis came for the communists, socialists, and union members.

Seriously. The moment I lost it is when Jones is pointing out Trump’s racist behavior and Lord says, “YOU ARE DIVIDING PEOPLE BY RACE!!!”

The conservative position being that racism really isn’t a problem except for you pesky liberals going on and on about it.

Conservative arguments about racism are all about defining racism extremely narrowly—everything but advocacy for reimposition of slavery, or slavery + Jim Crow and you’re not a racist.

Ergo, all people who claim anything else is racist is “obsessed about race” and therefore the actual racists.

Yeah it’s really weird because the KKK is literally at this very moment in support of Donald Trump for President, and he’s somehow trying to tie them to the left/progressives. Cannot comprehend.

    This fucking guy.

The old brain-dead “Democrats were racist first” argument and false equivalents of what constitutes tyranny.

It’s no wonder their party is so fucked up. It is based on contortions of logic so egregious, if you aren’t already stupid, it will make you that way by merely entertaining them.

I am crying and want to send you to detention.

The modern Klan is a very modern thing, entirely different and thrice rebuilt since reconstruction. It has much less influence on american anything than Gawker. In fact, Gawker is a nation state of influence compared to the smatterring of weirdos that constitute the current Klan.

The original klan was created by the original Democrat party. That is a historical fact. it was a terrorist group and what you refer to, designed to attack republican carpetbaggers and free slaves from setting up influence in democrat held areas. end of story.

The second Klan, was a political movement to stop immigration of white Catholics from italy and ireland. It was sort of racist too, as the powerbase of American voters were unanimously racist in the 20s. It was as Lord stated, also aligned with the Wilsonian Progressive movement. this is all very confusing but you should read about it and learn how fucking weird things are, but in fact that is what Lord is referring to.

The next klan was the diminished after civil rights klan which went back to being white power voters and anti semitics. It seems catholics and italians of the white persuasion were often racist anti semitics so they became part of it for awhile. But not for long, as the klan reduced and reduced through the 70s, 80s and 90s for varous PR reasons, until they lost all power in america with the death of Democrat senator Robert Byrd. Who I shall note, claimed to disavow the klan later in life.

At this point the clan is sort of a mix of alien conspiracy theorists, luminaty cospiracy theorists, anti-semites who claim to not be neonazis, protestants from the old south and poor racists from the interior mid atlantic.

They have no power but their weird historical afterglow and exist to march on occasion awkwardly and do stuff like suggest voting for Trump to make the news go nuts. I highly doubt they would vote for Clinton or Sanders for the obvious reasons so the whole thing is laughable fodder for the pearl clutching NPR voter. Congrats!

The cute thing about folks like yourself, you love playing the academic haughty card, then fail to actually have any real knowledge on the subject.

Really? Every historian? Since you’re invoking this, I guess it is okay to remind you that “Progressivism” was the inheritance that Wilson joyfully embraced. “Progressivism” was the bold-face and no irony American articulation of a geo-politics which was deeply racist (indeed, reconconciled to its racism). Historicism has the kinds of limits that my brief post illustrates. You misconstrue (parroting this Gawker article) history. In doing so, you distort a legacy of systemic racism which is integral to state power in these United States. You are not soft peddling to convince the ignorant. You are ignorant. Congrats and welcome to this hip commentariat . Hope your foodtruck or hedge-fund thrives. No... that wa sarcasm. See the difference?

There’s nothing that tells me you know nothing about history faster than calling the Nazis a left-leaning party because they had “Socialist” in their name. By that same logic, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea is a shining bastion of democracy run by its people.

The GOP does not want to win this one. They want to be “right” and they can be “right” all the way to crushing electoral defeat. Guess what, this isn’t 2000 or 2004, anymore. You can’t win with just conservative white voters. Sorry. The GOP sees the writings on the wall; that’s why they are freaking-the-fuck out to the point that they had to pull Paul Ryan out the House to make a formal statement renouncing the fucking KKK yesterday.
