    Usual random musings:

Socially, straight white Republicans (which I would imagine encompasses the vast majority of Republicans) are typically not in fear that anything will be taken from them except their guns and their Bibles. They can cry victim all day but truthfully, the vast majority of those people don’t know what it is to have legislation enacted to discriminate against their identities. And if they did, they would not have the will to hold on and keep fighting as black and brown citizens have, as LGBT citizens have, as women have (yes, of course there are female Republicans). Which I guess is why they resort so quickly to guns and bigotry.

This election seems kind of like a game to them. “The Democrats hate Trump? Fuck ‘em, let’s vote for him! Let’s make America great again, even if the guy promising to do so has literally lied to our faces time and time again, we can totally trust him!” They don’t really give a shit about what it will mean for American politics on the international stage, for the future of (their own) party, for their fellow American citizens even. The vast difference between the Democratic party gaining hold of this country and the Republican party gaining hold of this country for the immediate future is the difference between human rights continuing to be granted and human rights being taken away. It’s not a game for so many of us.

This election is not a fucking game to me. Fuck Trump, fuck almost the entirety of the GOP, and whoever our nominee is come election time we better turn out in record fucking numbers.

I’m annoyed by the simultaneous declarations here and there by some conservatives of “Trump supporters are liberals” and sites like Breitbart claiming that Trump is the true heir to conservatism. It’s annoying. I’m annoyed.

Yeah, honestly, what do straight, white, Christian Americans really have to fear? And the ones lacking empathy, lacking even the ability to see the world beyond their noses, they vote Republican, because why wouldn’t they? If all straight, white, Christian Americans voted solely in their own self-interest, they’d probably all vote Republican every time.

After an argument with a family member, here’s a reminder to those thinking the thought “I’m going to stay home now in November.”

The reason why people haven’t supported Bernie Sanders, Mr. Man of the People, as evidenced by minorities, women, the LGBTQ population, is that his rhetoric about revolution is an empty promise. You talk the talk about wanting some great change to your political system, but when the going gets tough, you would rather have someone like Trump take over because you’re hurt your candidate lost?

It’s staggering the privilege people show on their sleeves by talking about how they’d rather see Trump than Hillary (or just not vote at all). You obviously have nothing to lose - not your marriage rights, your reproductive rights, your voting rights - nothing that so worries you that you could effectively become second class citizens.

The time is coming not to fall in love - you don’t have to do that - but to fall in line. Dig in deep, and get ready to do hard work so that we can have a supreme court, we can win back the senate, so we have someone in the white house who can use executive orders.

This has a lot to do with why I switched to Clinton after being intrigued by Sanders early. No more left wing purity politics please. It hurts the Democratic Party time after time and just makes things worse in the long run. All you have to do is remember how rapidly left-liberals became disenchanted with Obama (because they never actually paid attention to his actual message and goals). Then think about how badly the 2010 midterms went for Democrats. “If we ruin our own chances and forsake our temporary advantage NOW, we can come back BETTER” is a strategy that simply does not work.

Are we not allowed to be critical of our own party? Is that ‘purity politics’? Honestly, being rank and file, monolithic thought is the antithesis of the ‘big tent’ Democratic party.

It’s the same: they use our votes for half measures.

Hillary wins with “low information” voters.

    That’s not progress, that’s manipulation.

The Clintons have decades of experience pandering to well-meaning but uninformed voters.

      most voters are low-information voters.

      only with a complicit media

some voters are lost causes, I’ll grant you, but if the media did even a half-ass job of reporting and analysis Hillary would be losing today

It would be helpful to not only state “who won” but what their estimated delegate win for a state is. I believe that some states are winner take all for delegates and some are proportional, so not all “wins” are equal.

There are no winner-take-all states yet. Democratic are proportional and Republican have a weird system that allocates some statewide and others are take-all by district. Plus some states have “thresholds” that you have to meet to get a proportional share and “triggers” that give you bonuses for getting a majority.

You can see delegate counts on google by searching “Super Tuesday Results” but since the votes aren’t even being counted yet there’s not enough data to predict delegate counts for any of the states voting today yet.

This is EXTREMELY important. I honestly have been telling everyone: this isn’t the presidential ‘winner take all’ style elections. This is real, proportional ‘democracy’. Every shellacking matters.

They’ll change the rules in the first 20 minutes so that his pledged candidates are free to change their minds and they’ll all switch to Rubio for the first vote. Drumpf will freak out and storm the stage for a rage-fest, fist fights will break out on the convention floor, and Drumpf will announce his 3rd party run from his limo on the way back to the plane. I’m going to stay up late and make popcorn and queso dip.

    PREDICTIONS

Minnesota goes for Bernie, having confused him for Garrison Keillor.

Texas gives the Cruz campaign the death penalty, even though it’s mentally unfit.

The Alaskan GOP cements its alliances by marrying a young Palin woman to a Trump scion.

It is the most insulting thing to read people alluding that Black people are uninformed because they are voting for Hilary. Really? Must it come to that? You don’t have to insult people just because you don’t agree with them. The amount of gumption some of you have.

Here comes all the Bernie Babies with “but but but it’s not winner take all. The delegates, The delegates!”

No, y’all getting your hats and asses handed to you.

Keep telling yourselves that you have a shot. Bernie will be officially trolling the Democratic Party - because there is no chance he can win - as of tomorrow.
