Gas is 1.50 a gallon, a Clinton and Bush are/were running for president, the X-Files is on tv, a group of black students was just removed from a Trump speech based only on the color of their skin. Yes, I think we are going backwards. Is this what “Make America Great Again” means??

What? Why? Seriously why MSNBC. It really doesn’t matter what changes they make short or hiring Bill O’Reily or Sarah Palin, they’re still going to be seen as a liberal network. This is why I will continue to not get my “news” from the cable news networks. NPR Morning Edition it is for me.

We stick to NPR and Democracy Now for American news coverage, but I liked Mellissa Harris-Perry’s weekend show for commentary. I will probably only watch MSNBC for Rachel Maddow now.

My two favorite news shows used to be The Rachel Maddow Show and The Rachel Maddow Show With Guest Host Ezra Klein. Shame that, by definition, they could never be on at the same time. Was disappointed that Klein didn’t get his own show and ended up walking away from the network.

It confirms my theory: if you’re coming to cable news in an effort to learn something or embiggen yourself, you’ve already lost.

And this is how a network can make sure progressives stop watching TV news coverage for good. Let all these shows battle for the remaining conservative viewers too old to use the internet for news. It’s like fighting over radio listeners. Let them go.

Stared except for the radio listeners part. NPR has consistently good election and world news coverage and is at least somewhat closer to being balanced than any of the cable news shows will ever been.

Agreed. I haven’t watched cable news in years but I listen to NPR every single day.

I turned on msnbc during the Nevada caucuses. They were interviewing a guy sitting on the floor eating a sandwich about who he was there caucusing for and what he was having for lunch, and then threw back to Chris Matthews who said something condescending about the fact that the guy worked at the casino, and who knew that all these little casino workers living their little lives had political opinions. It was maybe one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen.

Raise your hand if you get your information from cable news, my fellow liberals? ....anyone? (crickets). This is why cable news channels are becoming more white and conservative with each passing day. We don’t watch that shit, and cable news is a business.

I *used* to, maybe 5 yrs ago. Now I will watch MSNBC for Rachel Maddow and CNN if there is breaking news (an active shooter, a plane crash, etc), but other than that, nah. I haven’t been able to stomach tv talking heads since this “election cycle” started... uh... like 18 months ago (give or take a year).

Pretty soon the only people of color on MSNBC are going to be inmates on their endless prison shows.

+1000. Somewhat off topic, but can anyone speak to whether other countries have hours and even networks dedicated to nonstop crime and prison stories? Is this normal??

NBC, let me clue you in on a little secret - trying to become the new CNN would have been a great idea 20 years ago. Today, not so much.

Being a POC is a conflict of interest in their new quest to be “fair and balanced.” They might have an innate bias against our leading white supremacist GOP candidate.
