There are so many people/institutions who should be required to apologise to these students, I’ve lost count. The university. The Trump campaign. The people who stood by and did nothing. The Secret Service.

USA Today is right to compare this to 1963.

The images of these students in tears is wrenching.

Are they less than citizens? Do they not vote?

It really paints an accurate picture of super backwards pockets of the South that many have denied or ignored for a long time.

    I have no words.

Someone I know just posted a Facebook status in support of Trump. This is someone I have kissed before. I feel dirty.

One of my fb friends compared people attacking Drumpf to “mob mentality” because he wouldn’t disavow Duke and the KKK . And asked how does that make Drumpf “racist” ?

      Siiiiiigh

At least I’ve never kissed him.

I recently added an old college “friend with benefits” to my FB feed. Mistake. His hobbies (at 45) are drinking beer and reposting “Chicks on the Right.” But he got fat and went bald, so I get to laugh at that.

This is so horrible, but what’s worse is that it is not at all surprising, based on what we’ve already seen/heard from Trump so far.

    John Oliver, give me strength.

I don’t want to spoil anyone, but this segmant had me laughing so hard my chest hurt afterwards.

My favorite was the gold sharpie...its so funny how petty Drumpf is...until you remember that this man might have a chance to become president and will have access to codes.

I don’t even know how to comment on this this sucks so bad.

When I was in college I went to all sorts of political rallies, those I agreed with and those I didn’t, out of curiosity. To learn. What they experienced is something they should never have had to.

That’s what sickens me. It’s bad enough when this kind of thing happens at a general community rally/speaking event. But at a school? These students are supposed to be learning how to best serve their communities and participate in the political process, and all they learned tonight is how to endure racism, which should not be a lesson they need to experience. So sad.

I can’t even imagine how he thought this was a good idea. He’s the one who keeps trying to pretend minorities love him, and he’s trying to distance himself from racists who support him. I’m sure he assumed they were BLM there to disrupt the rally, but that’s really dumb for a couple reasons. One is that not all black people at a rally are BLM. The second is that even if they are, you wait for them to disrupt the rally, then kick them out, and his BLM-hating supporters will love that. Now he’s the guy with whites-only rallies. If this doesn’t draw condemnation from everyone, even the right, it will be a sad day for America.

I hate that they had to feel the indignity of being singled out because of their skin color. I hate they will have to have that memory of anger for being treated as less than. I hate that the only thing I can offer are my condolences and my own story of being treated differently because of the color of my skin. I hate that their public humiliation will become fodder on for racists everywhere.

But I love that they stood together and will continue to stand together as students and as African American women and men, who are now are keenly aware that we need to continue to fight for the future of this country.

To the students, and anybody for that matter, please remember that There is never, and I mean never any shame in the struggle.

Absolutely. it might be hyperbole but it is so true that this happened to all of us. This was a Jim Crow. Having the same stories as your grandparents in regards to racial inequality was not the plan.

Jeez... This is really horrible. Not only is Trumps campaign profoundly horrific for immigrants, non whites, non racist whites, and the underprivileged, but he’s showing just how many racist citizens we have in this country that support him.

Those students could have been trying to come see if all the negativity was true for themselves instead of relying on secondhand info. Now they have firsthand experience as to what a presidency would be like if this is just the campaign.

If Trump wins... I’ll swallow my anxiety and consider moving to Canada. :/ It seems nice there and I am looking for a change in scenery in my life soon.

    Disgraceful.

My head exploded after watching this tonight—-how the RNC set this year up, and how it got us where we are today.

Duke isn’t his only racist endorsement. Look at Sessions—who was not confirmed for a federal court appointment because of racist incidents.

I’m in your camp—I don’t get this at all! Except in, I guess, the sense of wanting people to judge Trump based on the actual facts of his…everything rather than the bizarre pseudo-cachet that’s congealed around the name, which is a thing that makes sense.

But Drumpf, in and of itself, is a nice solid name. Got some heft to it.
