Fuck Jeff Sessions. He’s a racist piece of shit who couldn’t even get nominated to a damn judge position because he was so damn racist. Reagan nominated him in 1986 and the Senate refused to confirm him. From Wikipedia:

At Sessions’ confirmation hearings before the Senate Judiciary Committee, four Department of Justice lawyers who had worked with Sessions testified that he had made several racist statements. One of those lawyers, J. Gerald Hebert, testified that Sessions had referred to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) as “un-American” and “Communist-inspired” because they “forced civil rights down the throats of people.” Thomas Figures, a black Assistant U.S. Attorney, testified that Sessions said he thought the Klan was “OK until I found out they smoked pot.”Sessions later said that the comment was not serious, but apologized for it. Figures also said that Sessions had called him “boy.” He also testified that “Mr. Sessions admonished me to ‘be careful what you say to white folks.’”

In other words, yet again, Trump racking up the racist piece of shit politician endorsements (Paul “black people are causing the heroin problem in Maine” LePage, Jan “kick out all the Mexicans” Brewer, David “actual Klan leader” Duke)

You need to refer to him by his full name: Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III, the man that thought the KKK was OK until he saw a few of them smoking pot.

I had to check Wikipedia to make sure his name wasn’t Jefferson Davis Sessions.

I did the same, but more to check if “Beauregard” wasn’t Jeff Davis’ middle name. (It wasn’t—his middle name was “Finis”.)

If your name is Jefferson and you don’t have four legs, fur, and are perpetually happy, then odds are you’re from one of 13 states and are racist.

Yes. Bill wasn’t above dog-whistle politics and what I would consider outright racist policies.

Masters of the Universe, beyond the comic, entered the lexicon as a term for the flashy, moneyed class in New York City in the ‘8os via Tom Wolfe’s The Bonfire of the Vanities.

In other words, it referred to Trump.

No, Masters of the Universe referred to the Wall Street money crowd, not the real estate people. They are an entirely different group of rich assholes.

Technically true, but I think Trump in his way epitomized the Gekko/McCoy type.

    ~reminder~

Jeff Sessions isn’t a federal judge because during his confirmation hearings one of Sessions’ black coworkers testified that Sessions repeatedly referred to him as “boy” and generally displayed gross racist behavior.

A lot of people think that Trump voters are stupid to think Trump could ever win the general and become president, but I think that’s not what they’re aiming for at all. I suspect they know Trump can’t become president, but don’t really care. What’s important to them is the act of supporting Trump - which is an act of asserting their tribal identity. They love Trump because he gives them the chance of wearing those “Make America Great Again” hats, going to his rallies, cheering for him, etc. Trump is giving back white people a space to celebrate their white supremacist tribal identity unapologetically. It doesn’t matter that he would fail to win against the Democratic nominee.

This getting interesting. A lot of my Democrat friends have indicated they intended to support/vote fo Trump. I’d say for most of them it’s a rejection of HRC and the “conventional wisdom” that she and candidates like Rubio represent. For them, I think the decision would be complicated if Sanders was the nominee. So it’s not an endorsement of Trump and I think they make that distinction. They’re people who are smart enough to know that Trump’s stated plan to “build a wall” isn’t a reality. The idea of a HRC presidency seemed attractive to me after the Bush years. I ask myself what's changed and can't figure it out. I think it's more than the server and the paid speeches. I think it's like this political industrial complex that she embodies more than any other pol and the idea that if Trump can beat her it's a step in the direction of dismantling these candidates that seem force-fed to us by a handful of people who have made tons of money from ensuring we don't have a choice.

“A lot of my Democrat friends have indicated they intended to support/vote fo Trump.”

This is sad. Even if people disregard many of Trump’s wild proposals, I don’t see how they can vote for a candidate who expresses xenophobia and other forms of hate speech—and is apparently comfortable with endorsements from white supremacist groups (or, at most, issues only cursory denials)...

I understand the perception that our political system is broken, and that HRC is an obvious member of the establishment. I personally favor Bernie, but I would not hesitate to vote for HRC over any GOP candidate. Yes, I once said I would have to “hold my nose” to vote for Hillary, but even with her faults she is way better than anyone on the Republican side—especially when you consider Supreme Court justice appointments. That alone is enough of a reason to vote for her over the GOP nominee. Please remind your friends of the SC vacancy, and the need for an open-minded SC justice...

You know what’s bad?? When not a single Senator endorses SENATOR Cruz, and now one has come out for Donald Trump! Speaks volumes about how despised Cruz must be in the Senate.

This. It’s why it’s pretty clear that Cruz will be forced out long before Rubio.

Remember a few weeks ago when panicked GOP strategists were trying to console themselves that Donald Trump hadn’t gotten any endorsements from sitting members of Congress or governors? Yeah, that’s all changed very quickly.

Hey, GOP, you did build that. Have fun roosting all those chickens that just came home.

I am having way too much fun with this implosion, though, much less fun with the liberal concern trolls who have seemed to have convinced themselves that Trump is favored in a general election against either Dem in the face of overwhelming evidence otherwise.

trump already had the vote of the entire confederacy from day one. i’m glad to see the traitorous rats like sessions exposing himself in public because he must be under the influence of a delusion that trump will become president. it’s like he’s been smoking crack for years.

That’s the funny thing to me. These aren’t swing states. They aren’t going to help any of the candidates get to 270 electoral votes in the EC. Not only will it not help them win the presidency, but they basically have all the governorships, legislatures, and Congressional seats, so it’s not going to help them downballot to run up the score in the South, either.

More to the point, with Trump on the ticket, there is starting to be evidence that black turnout will be at least as its historical high in 2012. They have any kind of misstep, and we might actually see in a few places this backfire on them in a major, major way.
