    “Ohhhh, *that* David Duke.”

    God, I hope he wins the nomination. Mitch McConnell is already planning to run negative ads against Trump to differentiate Senate Republicans from their moronic overlord. This election will be ugly, but it will not be competitive if Trump is the GOP nominee.

    So, what is the takeaway from this? This is what no one seems willing to really get into. Has Trump become racist in his later years? This of course does happen and is devastating to watch happen. Particularly in the age of Limbaugh, 24/7 Fox News, I know many people in their 30-40s who are horrified that their once only fiscally conservative parents have morphed into horrid racists. Or, alternatively, are we supposed to take away from this that he is just completely irresponsible and will accept racist support with a wink and a nod to win the Presidency? Or, as a third alternative, are we supposed to conclude that perhaps this is some amazing Kaufmanesque hoax by Trump meant to reveal and destroy the putrid, racist underbelly of today’s Republican Party? My bet is on a mix of 1 and 2.

      I still think he’s working for the Clintons. While also having a hell of a good time promoting himself and fucking everyone’s heads.

      And option 3 is spoken for! ; ) Do you really think that Trump would agree to do that? The guy must have a hell of a twisted sense of humour and an insane belief in his acting abilities to have agreed to play the role of a huge racist for months on end.

    Lame continous propaganda, Melissa, and it lowers both you and your employer that you are putting so much of it on. The only people it’s influencing are the ones too stupid to vote anyway. The real story that breaks Trump is going to be what’s in his tax returns, NOT desperately trying to stick a racist label on him.

    Did this happen before of after he retweeted a Mussolini quote:

    In case it’s removed:

    @realDonaldTrump

    “@ilduce2016: “It is better to live one day as a lion than 100 years as a sheep.” – @realDonaldTrump#MakeAmericaGreatAgain”

    For all you young’uns who were busy stuffing mashed bananas up your nose in the early ’90s, David Duke was the Grand Wizard or whatever of the Klan, and he ran for governor of Louisiana on the Republican ticket in 1991 or so.

    He ran against an incredibly corrupt Democrat, Buddy Edwards, which led to the famous bumper sticker: “Vote for the crook. It’s important.”

    It was huge news all over the country that a Klansman was running for legitimate, statewide office, even in famously corrupt Louisiana. There’s no fucking way Trump doesn’t know who David Duke is.

      Jeremy Lin, Tim Tebow’s NFL career, Donald Trump- we will all look back on this one day and wonder why so many were we entranced by such mediocre talent. And in Trumps case, blatant ignorance.

        Right? It’s going to be clear once he becomes a fish in a bigger pond than the GOP primary that he’s a sub-standard candidate.

      “The Reform Party now includes a Klansman, Mr. Duke, a neo-Nazi, Mr. Buchanan, and a communist, Ms. Fulani,” he said in his statement. “This is not company I wish to keep.”

      I caught between whether I believe this is a case of Northeastern understatement, or classist idea that he doesn’t really mind their beliefs, but that it would be gauche to be associated with such people. Doesn’t really matter, though.

        I am starting to think that Marco is absolutely right, and Trump is running the biggest scam in history, and he will run it as far as he can.

        I have wonderful dreams imagining hordes of Repugnuts committing seppuku, when Toto finally pulls the curtain aside.

        I KNOW I will buy the book - The Art of the Con
