Someone should tell them that their name is eerily similar to a japanese sex toy company, Tenga.

      Fascinating!

      Tenga Cup

A one time use and disposable masturbation cup. It comes in a variety of sensations designed to imitate real life experiences. Each sensation is also available in soft and hard varieties, as well as a US version which features a longer depth cup.[23]

      Tenga Flip Hole

A reusable masturbation sleeve and case. It comes in four different colors; white, black, red and silver. Each color offers a different sensation with different inner sleeve lining. The flip hole is designed to be easy to use and clean including the ability to air dry after use. The Flip Hole can be used up to 50 times. Tenga also released a new version of the flip hole called Flip Air, however it was discontinued in spring 2012.[24]

Does this work both ways? Like, if the contract doesn’t specify that union members can’t microwave fish in the break room eight hours a day, could they take turns doing so?

Actually yes. Funny you mention this because things like that is exactly what many public service unions do like teachers and police thanks to court rulings making it so they cant actually participate in job actions.

Amateur. You put it raw in the hot air vent that leads to the manager’s office, and give it a week.

Unions are really putting a damper on my plan to start a business where I pay employees $2/hour to remove asbestos for 14 hours a day while receiving one break during which I receive a hand job.

I thought the unions leaders continually endorsing Hilary Clinton despite Clinton sitting on Wal-Mart’s board of directiors for 6 years while Wal-Mart waged war on unions was a pretty petty way of harassing union members.

Funny enough, IATSE the union in question, endorsed Hillary Clinton a few months ago — Union members have been furious about the decision and have been protesting it to union leadership rather vocally.

Well you know in this new age of political pragmatism: we have to vote for the candidate most likely to win in a general & the candidate who will fuck us the least. A winning combination. Hillary Clinton: at least I’m not a Republican.

Keep in mind that these petty actions are being taken against a creative/media union, which in practice are pretty toothless against management to begin with (the WGA is the only exception I’ve seen in the category). IATSE is mostly focused on preserving guild perks for its members, which is why TEGNA is taking this low-stakes approach. It goes to show how effective 30 years of anti-union propaganda has been in this country.

On the other hand, a lot of what has hurt unions has been their ridiculousness. They spend a lot more on politics than negotiating, and a lot more time protecting the union than worrying about the members.

The amount of crazy things and delays caused by unions on large projects, plus the insane amount of corruption in them, was a big, big factor in their demise as well.

We need more unions, but they need to be better as well.

Absolutely agree. We need a situation like you see in Germany, where government and unions and corporate management work together to offset their worst impulses. It hasn't hurt their economy.

That’s a neat american style trick. (move locations, do not let union employees get bennies that are default)

There are EU countries that allow for unions in my global company, and they have a vote on changes. It’s not like the NFL CBA where it is “black and white” they actually allow employees(workers) a seat at the table with management.

It’s unthinkable to those of us in the US. (white collar). If we had a union, it would be pure panic as most people here consider themselves brilliant unicorns.

If this union is any good, they will demand effects bargaining; that was a material change in working conditions.

Unfortunately for TEGNA, treating your employees like shit tends to make them embrace their union more, not less.

I look forward to reading what this means for Gawker in The Awl.

This is what happens when companies are run by twenty somethings, or at least people with the maturity of them. This will backfire. None of these union members are going to quit. They’re just going to take these issues to the bargaining table. 23 years in a private sector union. Come at me brohams.
