I went to a majority Cuban-American HS in Miami back a while ago. In the midst of the “Will the last American to leave Miami please take the flag” days. Our HS baseball team made the state finals. The competition was in the hometown of the favorites to win. We were hissed at and all sorts of lovely racist taunts in our direction. We decided to embrace it and do all off our cheers in Spanglish—not that cheering is a baseball thing. Acarachin, Acarachan, acaraca chin chin chin chan, Juegala! Juegala! Sis boom bah. San Brendan, San Brendan, RAH, RAH, RAH! We won, and that night they came to the motel where we were all staying with bats and pickup trucks looking for a fight. Thankfully the Ocala cops did their duty shooing them away.

‘Hey, I can sympathize with people wanting a better life for themselves and their families, but the last thing this country needs more of are poor uneducated people who wind up depressing wages and increasing social service costs.’

...Is what someone who wants to take a firmer tack on immigration should say (whether or not you agree!). Trump has back peddled on his Mexico comments, but too little too late.

Political policy positions as a taunt for high school basketball... That’s amusing, at least.

I’m voting for Trump because he’s not some Johnny Come Lately racist. No, sirree. Trump’s racism goes back decades, to when he was discriminating against African American renters in Starrett City. What other candidate can boast more than four decades of documented hatred for minorities?

Under these words is a library’s worth of books, all leather-bound with gilded titles. Most of these titles can only be found in the archives of the Vatican. The book the man is studying, the way a man studies a painting or a statuesque blonde, is a thick tome the size and width of three stacked pizza boxes. On the spine, in cursive gold the title “History of the United States.” Every so often, the man takes up his fine writing pen, ivory with inlaid ebony, and underlines an important passage , or crosses out some trivia, or circles, or zig-zags whole passages, his feelings unknown. In some cases, not content with this abridgment, he rips out whole pages. Finally, he finishes with this work and turns over the last, blank page. He picks up a large stamp sitting on an even larger blotter and thumps it down with a force that echoes far beyond this room. The carmine ink glistens on the pristine page, but soon begins to dry into:

i’ve always gotten the impression that trump-supporters don’t really care if he’s president, but care more about what their support of him says to others. it’s their way of saying “i hate TheBlacks” without having to say it.

and i love that Newt went on Fox News and declared Trump “the candidate and Fox created”. a result of 24 hours a day hate-t.v. bent on appealing to the lowest common denominator in people. finally, the bigots and cro-mags have their unapologetic candidate.
