This one, I’m conflicted about. As strident as I am for the redistribution of wealth, there’s also a part of me that sees this as merely her way of spending the money she was given by others based on their assessment of her talent, which they obviously found worth compensating at the amount they did. Thus, I can’t really get that mad about it. I would aim more scorn at the idea that her wearing the earrings was considered something actually worth reporting to the public.

Unless, of course, it was used as one of the matches lighting the fuse of ClassWarmaggedon '16!

A human who has been molded into a tool used to distract the working class from its state of economic penury yesterday publicly flaunted a tangible symbol of grotesque inequality in a manner that demonstrated a complete lack of fear of looming class war.

I’ve only had one cup off coffee. Can someone translate this in to something a little less complicated and pretentious? And maybe divide it up into 3 or 4 sentences? This looks like something I would have written in college to impress my professors. In the business world this doesn’t fly.

EDIT: Kate Hudson’s ability to rare them,

Spend less time on fancy openings and more on double checking your work ;)

I’ll take a shot at it.

      Hudson is a celebrity.

Celebrities are useful to the 1% who enjoy outsized power, privilege and influence in our society because they keep the masses gawping and chattering instead of thinking about why things are set up the way they are.

      Howzat?

I mostly just want to know how she manages to remain an A-lister in perpetuity despite not having been in a quality movie since the turn of the century. You’ve answered this question unsatisfactorily; heavy earrings are not enough to accomplish this feat.

She's very physically attractive and the daughter of a famous actor. In Hollywood those two things alone are enough to keep her where she was when she cranked out her last successful rom-com.

Because Hollywood is very bad at evaluating the components of success (and in disincentivized from doing so as it is a sloppy, fat cash cow fed on investment from Rubes that like easy answers in the form of Kate Hudson).

    Dear HamNo:

Due to a recent change in circumstances, my household is moving from the 30th income percentile to the 98th percentile. What can I do to keep from being destroyed in the revolution?

Your ‘new to money’ starter packet is coming in the mail. It’ll outline basic things to help you avoid any faux pas in your new social circles. It includes:

      - Talking points on the evils of the estate tax

      - A complementary subscription to wine enthusiast

      - A primer on which local politician is most to blame/credit for having/not having ‘those people’ near your house

      - A $500 gift card to Orvis or Talbots, based on your preference

      - A sleeve of Titlest ProV1s (If you don’t know what those are, you will)

She exclusively dates the lead singers of rock bands who only ever appear on burned CD’s you got from Brody who lived down the hall from you in college.
