Because tweeting support for one female artist wouldn’t be complete without throwing another one under the bus.

Unpopular opinion but I think it’s valid complaint. A lot of these “girl power” artists use it only to further themselves and their own careers but remain silent during the trials of others.

Ultimately, Dr. Luke and Sony are the villains here. Nothing should take away from that.

I don’t know who Tom Hawking is, but I quite like him.

It’s uplifting to see so many artists tweeting their support of Kesha. I hope they provide a sense of belief for Kesha in her worth and her art as a human rather than a money-making facility; clearly the law does not value her as such.

This is the only way Kesha will win. Not in court, but only if there's a groundswell of support for her within the industry. Sony will only cave if/when they become publicly hated.

I just visited his twitter... I’m in love.

It is good to see them supporting her.... Mara Wilson’s tweet says volumes

John Fogerty was sued for plagiarizing his own music... wasn’t he? Or something like that? Off to Google!

If the richest, most famous white women can’t get even the slightest hint of justice, why the fuck should any other woman expect anything positive to come of reporting the abuse they survive?

    Fuck this bullshit.

It’s so fucked up because she wasn’t even trying to bring criminal charges against him. She was trying to win the right, for herself, to work with anyone else. You would think that really, really, superlatively low bar would be within reach...

This tweet about Dr. Luke is my personal favorite. Especially considering Dr. Luke was one of the producers on her breakout Since U Been Gone:

Oh man. This speaks volumes. Other famous musicians have nothing nice to say about him. We need this and Kesha needs this.

This, kids, is why you don’t sign a record deal with a major label until you’ve established a career already.

Honestly, though, she just needs to release a one-track, 40-minute album consisting entirely of horrible feedback, malfunctioning machinery, and hundreds of overdubbed voices shouting “Dr. Luke is a rapist!” in 25 different languages. She’d get dropped, and Pitchfork would give it at least a 7.

But it’s hard to establish a major career without a record label. Being a pop star was of course her goal.

I encourage the second approach. I would listen. But I’m sure they’d find a way to say that even that bit of avante-garde weirdness violated the law. This is so heartbreaking.

You can have a career without a major label? That’s a legit question, I’m totally clueless about the industry.

As a musician, singer, and woman who has been a victim of sexual assault...I can’t believe the violation at play here. It’s so strangling I can’t even imagine...she can’t even sing her way through this? I hope to hell she’s at least writing and singing privately with the hope that this will be overturned and she’ll have something fierce and magical to share. Really, bless her and fuck this horrible, corrupt, system. No one should be able to own a person’s voice and body. No one.
