    This is why I support increased arts funding. If G-dub had been able to channel his...his...whatever, into painting from day one, the world would likely be a groovier place.

    ETA: Key to eradicating ISIS; carpet bomb them with Bob Ross instructional videos, paints, some hash and canvas. They’ll have all that rage worked out in a few weekends. Toss a couple bass guitars and some drum sets into the mix and the mid-east will basically be like one big Phish show...

      I’ve looked at this painting many times and this thought just crossed my mind for the first time. Based on the angle of the “self” in the mirror and the direction W is looking, I think that it is a completely valid interpretation that this is a version of himself coming to stab him in the back at his most vulnerable. He looks alarmed and conflicted. Almost like he’s living out his own personal version of the “would you kill Hitler?” question. Personally, I think he’s going to do it. (And THAT is a painting I could get behind)

      Full disclosure: I’ve been drinking. To be fair, he probably was too when he painted this.

            Seems unecessaraly cruel to call them weird. Retired people need hobbies, so it’s good W found one. Even if you say his paintings are awful, he’s learning, and clearly being a bit adventuresome. I’d much rather have him painting than involving himself in politics.
