I like how he says that a leader doesn’t have the right to question another person’s faith or religious beliefs when part of his entire presidential platform is run on the basis of questioning the religious beliefs of Muslims.

Give me a fucking break Donald.

Today’s Donald Trump is is completely different person than last week’s Donald Trump.

Jesus does not build walls. He doesn’t build bridges either. He builds cabinets. Good ones. He and Pepe do great work and he’s the only contractor I’ve ever worked with who’s completed the job in time and within the budget. So fuck you, Trump—Jesus is the man, I don’t care if he doesn’t have a green card.

Trump didn’t call Popey a huuuuge loser nor did he threaten to sue him or ask him how many kids he molested today so I think he’s maturing a little.

Well, if he did that the Catholic groups would be protesting outside Trump tower. I grew up in a Catholic home, you don’t not want those assholes on your bad side.

That was really kind of fucked up calling some guy outside his church “not a Chrisitian,” though. Protestant and Catholics don’t usually do that shit, anymore, at least not publically. I mean, everyone knows Trump’s not a practicing Christian, but the last person needing to start that shitfest is the Pope of a church that Trump doesn’t even belong to. He can do that shit to his own parishoners, but outside his church on religious matters, anyway, his pronouncements are bunk, particularly for Protestants.

Getting one’s faith called into question by a Catholic - and a Pope, no less - in Protestant circles won’t be seen as shame, rather a badge of honor. I mean, the last thing the Pope should want to be doing is highlighting the churches view - that they try not to advertise out of a sense of brotherhood - that Protestants are basically lost sheep and apostates (and many Protestants don’t believe that Catholics are Chrisitians, either).

I understand what you are saying but I took it as a general observation. He never said “Not a Christian——He said “not Christian” which I took to mean his beliefs in general. I think Pope Francis looked at the angry orange Groundhog with the pink eye sockets and wanted to give him a little verbal jab, like the Groundhog pokes and yammers on and insults anyone else who dares say a word about him.

STOP IT I CAN’T TAKE IT ANYMORE.

He is like the biggest troll in the history of trolls. He is TomatoFace if TomatoFace had billions of dollars at his disposal. I can’t believe that we keep giving him attention.

Now, obviously I understand that the man is the frontrunner among GOP candidates right now, I know we must pay him some attention. But really? “When ISIS attacks the Vatican (?), which we know they will (??), he’ll wish I was president (?????????)”

He manages to take every single comment made about him and blame someone else for it. And his supporters love this? They think it’s presidential? If only, IF ONLY Obama could run for a third term. I would pay to see this clown’s ass handed to him should he make it to the general.

So here’s my hot take on this...

Donald Trump is angry at the Pope. The Pope has a direct hotline to Jesus. Jesus’ dad is God. God has a whole arsenal of punishments at his beck and call.

    Including כִּנִים.

    LICE!

All the Pope has to do is intercede on behalf of, like, everyone not named “Trump” and get God to smite Donald Trump with lice.

As much as I do not like Trump, I cannot agree with what Pope Francis said. This makes me sad because I understand what he was trying to say, but just no.

You cannot lecture people about building bridges instead of walls (obvious metaphor) and then turn around and call the person not a Christian (a wall!), instead of offering a BRIDGE (!) to the person, referring to them as misguided, attempting to correct the errors in their thinking, etc. This is so hypocritical, it’s just ridiculous. He undermined his entire point in one sentence!

Second, on a more literal level (completely literal actually), Trump has now responded again, pointing out that...Vatican City is literally surrounded by a huge wall. Please, please keep in mind on this second point that the Catholic Church has consistently argued that the Pope has sovereign immunity from prosecution for the priest sex abuse scandal because he is, not a religious leader, but the head of state of Vatican City. Kind of like the President... : /

Vatican City has walls, but it isn’t literally surrounded by walls. You can literally walk right across the street from Rome into St. Peter’s Square and right up to the Basilica. But why would he care about facts now?

Francis said “A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian.” Here the use of Christian is as an adjective, not a noun. He’s not saying that Trump is not a Christian (someone who is a follower of Jesus) but his stance is not Christian (Christ-like).

I don’t think one argued that the Pope wasn’t a religious leader in the sex abuse trials. It’s just that because the office of Pope is both a legal and religious position (Head of State, Head of Church) the legal immunity applied. The same would be true if the Church of England was sued. Since Queen Elizabeth II is the head of the Church of England and Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, she is immune from lawsuit or prosecution.
