This isn’t about their son. This about his feelings of control. Waah waah, I’m a giant baby and this woman won’t let me control her life!

What the fuck is it with men getting deeply fixated and ruining their own lives over what they perceive as a rejection? Like what is broken inside you that you have no hope for future happiness and your only joy is in destruction and rage? Is it that he is so loathesome an individual that he will never have a happy relationship or successful career or like a fucking puppy or anything?

I hope that she sues and gets whatever money he has and he’s thrown in jail and forbidden the Internet and any contact with her son. And that he hits rock bottom and starts going to mandated anger management and learns some fucking coping skills.

Right? I mean, say for the sake of argument this poor woman is, in real life, exactly as horrible and wretched as he describes her. Why in the name of all God’s little angels would you be spending all your time harassing and threatening her?

      A) you seem to be provoking a person you describe as dangerous and unstable and B) you’re revealing yourself to be the kind of person who willingly blows up everything in his own life to complain about somebody who wouldn’t be in your life anymore if you dropped this!

This is weird, too, since Canada’s “free speech” laws are very different than those in the U.S. — they are much more protective of the object of the speech, like Britain’s. I suppose if the object is a female person, rather than, say, a corporation, those protections do not apply equally.

In Canada, as with most countries, the laws have been having a hard time keeping up with telecommunications advances. There was a story locally about two women who were being harassed like this online and the police, much as they wanted to help, we completely clueless as to what they could do about it. I mean, obviously this should be illegal, and this guy sounds like he’s dangerous as fuck and should be in jail.

As the news outlet notes, on the website he’s posted an exchange between him and his son, in which he tells the now-teenager that he would have “no qualms” about killing the boy’s mother.

I know we all like to use the “WON’T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!” as indicative of a society of helicopter parents, but seriously Patrick, you prick, think about how you’re fucking up your kid.

what with them being strangers and all (for those who don’t know me – I don’t like strangers). And, there’ll be the occasional folks who will see me and say “Hey, you’re that guy with that website about your ex-wife. Good for you. Fuck that bitch!” And to them I’ll say “Indeed! Fuck that bitch. Fuck her in her dirty, nasty, over-used, worn out, catcher’s mitt of a snatch.”

Pretty sure that pretty much everyone doesn’t like you Patrick. Get help.

This is sick and disturbing, because there’s a good chance some other crazy asshole will take advantage of the opportunity to harass Desiree. Also, on a much less serious note, when a man goes off on a rant about how vile and nasty his ex is, it makes me what to say, “So, you’re admitting that awful woman is the only kind of person who’ll fuck you?”

I was talking about raising kids with my friend who has a five-month old son. I was saying how she should be glad to have a son because it must be so hard trying to raise a girl with all the bullshit that awaits her out in the world. She countered that she’s worried that she won’t be up to the task of making sure her son grows up respecting women and not being an entitled prick. Her husband leans right, but compared to this awful excuse for a human being, he’s a goddamn feminist hero.

Canadian prosecutors discussed charging Fox with criminal harassment but ultimately decided not to, in part, they told the news outlet, because the exes live in different countries and thus Capuano couldn’t reasonably have an “objective fear” for her personal safety.

Cuz we all know physical harm is the only type of harm, right?

This is one thing I hate about our criminal justice system in Canada; criminal harassment- especially online- basically doesn’t exist in the eyes of the police.

ETA: kinja won’t let me reply to anyone but the author so I’m editing to reply to MessO:

It’s a complete lack of will on the part of the authorities. If you want to hear how heartbreakingly/infuriatingly unwilling the police are to acknowledge this entire class of crime exists and causes harm, look up the name Rehtaeh Parsons.

Reminds me of Gamergate, and how U.S. law enforcement were similarly disinclined to go after online harassers despite there being laws against such behavior. At least in the GG case it was partly the age of the harassers (i.e. teens) and the sheer number of them that seems to have overwhelmed the police to the extent they actually cared. Not sure why the state can’t handle one asshole.

Someone needs to tell this guy about the recent “revenge porn” decision... you can now be sued for public disclosure of private information, if that leads to harm to the person whose information you disclosed. With the precedent, I’m sure she could find a civil lawyer who would take this on contingency.

I agree, but the legal side of this is complicated by the fact that he’s in Canada, she is in the US, and the website itself (which atm is thankfully been maxxed out and is refusing requests) is hosted in Iceland.

Late to the reply, but a Canadian court would have jurisdiction because the alleged tort happened in Canada and the tortfeasor is also in Canada (therefore subject to its laws)... she doesn’t need to be here nor does the website. A local lawyer could help. I doubt she is aware of the recent claim since she is not Canadian :)

This poor woman and her son. Holy hell, her ex is hateful and scary. Where does he find the energy to keep going after so many years?

You don't even have to be in the same country anymore to harass someone. That thought is rather sobering.

Narcissists, man. I know someone who was married to a guy for 10 years. They had two children. She finally divorced him after he hit her (not for the first time), knocked her down, and she looked up to see the kids standing a little way away and decided that she couldn’t make them watch this for the rest of their lives. Literally for the next 30 years, her ex husband stalked and harassed her. Twice, he moved when she moved so that he could stay within a short drive of her (one of them required that he move over 100 miles). He told people crazy stories about her, he tried to steal her mail (he hung around her building and tried to tell the postal worker that she’d asked him to collect her mail for her), he tried to get her evicted, he tried to get her fired. For three months, he sent her child support in loose pennies until the court ordered him to pay by check. And basically all because he could not handle being left. The harassment only stopped when he died in a car accident. He probably would have hounded her until the day he died even if he lived to be ninety. Thank goodness there was no internet back then. He really could have ruined her life.

Yup...“narcissism” came to mind immediately when I started reading this article. He’s furious, because she had the gall to reject him first before he could reject her—“narcissistic injury” can be very dangerous. And honestly, he would absolutely have left her eventually, because narcissists are never happy and eventually look for new victims/narcissistic supply; he would have blamed her for his leaving too. These people are truly horrible in every conceivable way.
