My wife and I have this agreement that if ever I am a solely just a piss and shit factory, she is allowed to smother me with a pillow. My only request is that it’s a memory foam pillow, that way my kids will have something to remember me by.

Have you never put a pillow over your face during a nap? I do this all the time, as I don’t own a fancy sleeping mask. As he was on vacation, I’d have to assume that he forgot his sleeping mask at home and went with the pillow. Makes sense to me.

When I forget my sleep mask I put a black lawn and leaf bag over my head. Makes perfect sense.

I was going to say, a lot of people do put their pillow over their head when sleeping.

Ask United States Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI). He seems to think this guy is Antonin Scalia.

Considering the show he made of rejecting Vatican II’s legitimacy, the idea that he would ask to be cremated in his will is, if not unbelievable, at least fairly odd.

Scalia also loved the death penalty, which the Catholic Church still very much opposes (in contrast to cremation, which they’re pretty much okay with now). In the end, he was exactly the “Cafeteria Catholic” that he despised in others, but conservatives like him always think that their “reasons” are perfectly legitimate, while everyone else are horrible sinners.

I just found this out. My sister asked me what I wanted done with my body, and she said I could be cremated and the ashes put in my parents grave. I was surprised my parish would allow that, and freaked out that my sister was asking me about being dead. Like maybe she knew something I didn’t.

I’m lapsed, so I don’t really care what happens to my body, but I’m still not sure I want to spend eternity that close to my parents.

I find it very interesting that so many people now want to be cremated. I mean, I understand if “cost” is a consideration—cremation is much cheaper—but there are a lot of pretty wealthy people that are getting cremated, and these are people where cost doesn’t matter; they could easily afford a lavish burial on-par with an Italian Renaissance despot if they wanted. I have wonder what changed culturally?

There’s an old family cemetery in my hometown, and I’ve indicated that I want to be buried there when the time comes. I believe the last of my relatives to be buried there was my great-grandfather. I guess I like the romanticism of it all.

If the judge didn’t actually see the body, do we know if Scalia is really dead? Maybe he and his accomplices faked his death and he will reappear at some point in the future.

Imagine the furor during the confirmation hearings of whoever Obama nominates (Sean Penn? Noam Chomsky?) when Scalia casts of his disguise and declares that it was all a ruse to find out whether or not Obama really loves the Constitution for itself or for its lavish amendments.

Can we get Obama to nominate Chomsky just for fun? I really just want to see the reaction from the conservative media.

Also, it’d be a great test case to be like ‘oh, they’re too liberal for you? here.’ and then nominate a middle of the road liberal. The party of No will be doing a lot of ‘no, no, no’s this year.

Seriously, this is a worst case scenario for the right-wingers. They have two options: (1) Stall the nominee; or (2) concede control of the Supreme Court.

I think they roll with Option 1. It is short-sighted, petty, and kinda stupid–but worse (for them), it will turn their obstructionism into a concrete campaign issue (not to mention put the spotlight on the importance of the Supreme Court). This should spell doom for them in the general election. (And will open them up to an even more liberal court than if they just confirm President Obama’s nominee.)

Option 2 sucks for them, but Obama’s candidate will be more moderate than it otherwise might have been and it allows the issue to go away so they can go on blathering about bullshit non-issues. Furthermore, it doesn’t change the fact that there are still a lot of old court members (and 2 of the 3 remaining oldest members are Breyer and Ginsburg, with the third as “moderate” Kennedy). If they were smart, the repubs would concede this battle but maintain their chances of winning in 2016 and regaining control of the Court during the 2017-2021 time period (assuming they could win the 2016 general). If they delay and confirmation drags on or is “successfully” prevented and a democrat win, then they’re really fucked. They will lose this seat and Hillary/Bernie will most likely get to replace Breyer, Kennedy, and RBG with young liberals, making it a strong 6-3 liberal court. If Clarence Thomas gets off the court during the next Presidential term, then it could windup 7-2 in favor of the good guys.

Anyway, it’s gonna be a shitshow and I think HRC couldn’t be happier.

Yep. The guys that are dastardly and cunning enough to knock off a Supreme Court judge just plum forgot to remove the murder weapon from the exact place they used it to kill the victim. I don’t know why that’s not believable to you.
