I understand that you, Melissa, & probably all the writers @ Gawker absolutely hate & loathe Trump. I get this by now after reading what you all write about him each & every day. It seems every single day one of you is writing something scathing, which many times I feel are below the belt hits.

I just wonder if any of you have considered how blatantly terrified Gawker looks with regard to Trump. It's obvious to me, & I'm sure any casual observer who'd peruse the list of articles you've written about him. So...instead of coming across as a witty, sarcastic and intellectual reviewers (which is what you try so hard at), the end result is actually unbridled terror. A paradoxical effect, really & it's quite hilarious.

The fear is definitely real. On the economic front alone, I’d be terrified at having a POTUS who lost money running a casino. When a candidate for office is this big a buffoon sometimes laughing is preferable to crying.

By the way, anyone with 50 minutes to spare might want to watch the Funny or Die Donald Trump biopic, starring Johnny Depp:

I want Gawker to write something that will get his attention to draw him into battle. It wouldn’t take much doing. Maybe an exposé about his bankruptcies or something. Or just tell him he’s the baby in this conversation. I would do it myself, but I’m washing my hair tonight.

Only 5 months to go until the convention and he's still the GOP frontrunner by a wide margin. The party's racist and ignorant base never fails to disappoint.

Ok, but to be fair his stock in this poll you linked IS dropping while Rubio’s and Cruz’s are rising. Not that that means anything because it can just as well rise again. Thinning the herd of candidates is really the only way to know for sure if the Republicans are truly serious about taking Trump into the general.

What’s disappointing is that as things stand Trump can claim a win from SC unless something drastic happens, because there is no clear drop against a more distinct rival: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2016/pr…

Time is getting short, is all I’m saying. Plus Carson hasn’t dropped out yet, so there’s still a big chunk of the “crazy man” vote sitting out there for Trump.

I do think that at the convention they’ll try to buy him off from running as a Republican or 3rd party candidate. $500 million's worth of sweetheart deals for his real estate developments from various municipal and state GOP politicians should be acceptable to him.

Well, we know that Trump didn’t craft that tweet because it contains some depth. I wonder if his daughter wrote it for him, over breakfast?

I’d hate to say this this but, Trump’s jokes make Dane Cook look like Mitch Hedberg.

Deepest apologies to Mitch for mentioning him with those two ass clowns.

The joke doesn’t make any sense, but he put in a wolf-whistle about “anchor babies” that will appeal to his sycophantic base.

He's making a "clever" play of words on "anchorman" vs "anchor baby." Only Trump would think it's a good idea to double down on the racism that got him into legal problems with Univision right after they settle the suit.

If his dad is US Citizen, then anchor baby doesn’t apply at all, as the idea is that both parents have no legal immigration status in the U.S. and the kid, upon reaching the age of 18, can petition for them, so while Trump is closer to fitting the definition, still doesn’t apply, so....

Yeah I do think the Author’s point was that Trump more closely resembled the definition of an Anchor Baby than Ramos would. (If any stretch were to be made).

I don’t think Trump implied that Ramos was an Anchor Baby. Just a play on words as Ramos is Mexican and Anchor Baby would be a phrase that most of the Donalds voting bloc would closely associate with Mexicans.

Trump himself has bandied about the idea that as President, he would personally repeal the 14th amendment (he doesn’t know how that works) and that he would retroactively revoke the citizenship of people born to non-citizen mothers even if born in the US (he doesn’t acknowledge that his own proposal would take away his own citizenship, or that it’s an insane idea).

    Whoa!!!!

We’re not having him back - just so we’re all clear on this.

Well not at least until we’ve got our nuclear waste repository built, filled and ready to be sealed under half a kilometre of concrete.

    Dear Gawker Idiots:

I demand an immediate apology and a $100 million dollar payment of which all of it will go to Wounded Warriors, after expenses of course, for your defamatory story. There was nothing “thinly-veiled” about my joke. I was of course referencing anchor babies and as everyone - including Univision - knows or should have known, at the time in question I am and always have been a yooge and unrepentant racist and xenophobe so it seems slanderous for you to now call me “thinly-veiled.” What am I, a f@!#ing Muslim woman??

After looking through a big Storify of his Tampa appearance, I can see how Trump might feel like Elvis, but he’s more of a Face in the Crowd.
