So he’s essentially been free to rape and murder women for the last 50 years. NO WAY he got it out of ‘his system’ after just doing it once. They seriously need to look at other unsolved rapes/murders that he could have been involved in.

Hope he lives well into his hundreds so that he can actually serve some time.

Well, she was a woman...so clearly she was asking for it. No need to consider this was anymore than a one time thing.*

Exactly. I mean, I’m no lawyer, but how much more evidence is needed if he was the last person to see her, something belonging to him was found near her body, and 2 clergy members say that he confessed to them? But no, let’s just let him go free until his mid-80s. Grrrrrrrrr.

What the fuuuuuuck. This is like the headline you’d see on a newspaper in a Lifetime movie. Just how? How?

Maybe it’s as simple as Texas in 1960, white man murders a Latina?

What’s the point of the beauty queen designation? Besides upping the Lifetime factor, that is.

    Nothing like swift justice.

I hate how he and Bill Cosby got to live their entire lives relatively unmolested, and now all of the sudden “justice” is being served after they’ve lived full lives...

    I hate this...

At least Cosby will die knowing that most of the world hates him and that he completely ruined his legacy as America’s Favorite Dad.

That’s cold comfort. And doesn’t really help the 50+ women he’s been able to attack over the course of his life...

There is also a not-that-dissimilar case of a murdered teenager and a priest in Baltimore in 1969. Everyone - including the church - knew the priest did it and covered it up.

That story is absolutely horrible. Two priests and a gynecologist abused a lot of teenage girls and killed a nun?

Thank you for mentioning this 1969 case from Baltimore, and providing the link. I was going crazy trying to remember what I had read not too long ago that seemed so eerily similar; That was the story. Yeesh, just horrible, all of these stories.

This story had been a staple on Discovery ID. I wonder if any of her friends or family are left to see Feit finally brought to justice? She was the pride of the family, the first one to go to college and a teacher working with disadvantaged students. This was also an interesting feature to the story:

Had Irene hailed from Southtown, where most of McAllen’s Hispanic population lived, the investigation into her murder might not have been so dogged. - See more at: http://www.texasmonthly.com/articles/unhol...

She has at least two cousins, aged 9-10 years old, at the time of her death. They are still alive.

Ugh. You’d need a electron microscope and trained tardigrade to get either of their souls rounded up.

I usually have the TV on in the morning and coincidentally on Monday it was on some murder porn show on TLC and they covered this case. When Feit was originally considered a suspect in the 60s, the church very quickly ushered him away to a monastery (where one of the confessions occurred) with the consent of the police. There was reluctance in the early 60s to pursue charges against a priest and so the case kind of faded away.

Apparently, since that time 2 former priests have come forward to say Feit confessed to murdering Garza in the years since the murder. The DA at the time they came forward was very reluctant to bring the case to a grand jury. He said the former priests who Feit had confessed to weren’t credible. It was rumored he was protecting the church. Anyway, when the case finally went to a grand jury Feit wasn’t called to testify and neither were either of the priests (transcripts of their statements were available, but that’s it). The grand jury just really didn’t have much to go on. Anyway, one of the priests Feit confessed to is dead now, but the other is still alive. The new DA has been pretty committed to reopening this case which is why it’s going back to the grand jury now.

I don’t, I can’t. There are no words to describe the despicable actions of law enforcement in this case. Let them all fucking rot in hell.

A priest gets accused of attacking a woman from behind and throwing a rag over her mouth at his church, pleads guilty to aggravated assault and then still gets a second chance at his church? Oh to be a white man!
