Last year I was convinced he was their best shot because he was the only person who didn’t induce an automatic cringe response. But now that I’ve heard him speak a few times I feel vaguely sorry for him, and that’s not the sort of thing that garners votes for a commander in chief. I guess he polls decently against Ds but I can’t help thinking either one of Hillary or Bernie would crush him against the rocks.

He’s still their best shot, which is sad.

As a Democrat I have no idea who to cynically root for anymore. Does destroying Rubio make it more possible for a Democrat to defeat human nightmares Trump or Cruz (Crump? Truz?), or does it make it worse because we are closer to risking an actual nightmare Crump presidency? Marco Roboto is legit funny but I feel all mixed up inside.

Am I the only one who was not super impressed/happy with Christie calling out Rubio?

Not that I didn’t (REALLY, REALLY) enjoy seeing him taken down—the way it happened was hilarious—but—it was kind of a dick move. It’s like—you ALL have canned, memorized responses to questions. Calling someone else out on stage for something you know that you all do is kind of messed up. It’s like an unspoken rule to not bring it up; it’s already obvious. Like if you go the movies with a group of people and there’s someone constantly like “OK but you know all those action stars are on strings, right?”

Coming from someone who invokes Hillary and Barack at the beginning of virtually every single question, especially when the question has absolutely nothing to do with them, it was super lame. Rubio easily could have called him out too—I mean, anyone could call someone out the way Christie did at any time. Rubio just got the short end of the stick in that unexpected exchange.

The point is that Rubio is not smart enough to improvise, and the fact that he got caught doing it four times was a big disaster.

There’s kind of a big difference between having a canned response to questions and having *one* canned response that you use four times in response to being accused of having a canned response, especially when the response doesn’t make any sense in the first place.

All I know is Rubio better not come to Philly. Destroying robots is kind of our thing.

Marco Rubio... is a caricature of a broken robot.

I always thought it was weird that he was considered a top tier candidate. He has struck me as an empty suit from day one. There’s no THERE there, just a bunch of memorized soundbites. Plus, he looks like he gets the President coffee, not like an actual President.

Yeah, funny how the media always refers to him as photogenic and good looking. I do not see this AT ALL. I see a faceless middle management drone from Anytown U.S.A.

Close. That’s one of Christie’s henchman. It’s actually his second cousin, Salvatore “Sally Mae” Mariucci from upstate.

Let’s just say the dudes in the cardboard boxes had some “loans” that needed to be settled. Sal’s just there to make sure that they don’t have any second thoughts about exercising their political voice.

Sal’s a real patriot like that.
