    I said this on the “Peggy Noonan Went to Brooklyn” article (though the comment has mysteriously disappeared) and I’ll say it again: this kind of shit is really the height of White liberal hypocrisy and conceit.

    Like sure, Peggy Noonan is old and Conservative and worked for Reagan and is mean to the Clintons...I’m sure there are plenty of reasons to not like her and I could care less. I’m not here to defend Peggy Noonan.

    But White liberals, who no doubt make up a not insignificant number of the White Americans who have ZERO non-White friends, who are so far out of touch with people of color despite going to an HBCU that they would write an article as full of shit as this, really have no grounds for smugness and pointing the finger at other White people for being clueless on race.

    From where I’m standing as a person of color, is the vast majority of you who don’t get it and especially Hamilton Nolan.

      So given the choice between white liberals, who as you say, a not insignificant number of whom have ZERO non-white friends (a generalization if there ever was one), and white conservatives, who in many cases wish there were ZERO non-whites in America (another generalization), which would you prefer to live amongst?

      (I know, it’s a shitty set of choices - it would be nice if we could get our act together and accept that, you know, all people are created equal).

      HamNo and other white liberals (I include myself) really don’t know what it’s like to be a minority. We never can...but at least HamNo tries to understand.

      At times, it can come off as patronizing (i.e. Us white guys will speak on your behalf against those other white guys). Hell, we may even bit a little bit racist ourselves. But I would suggest at least we are imperfectly, clumsily, on your side.

      So, what do you think we should do? Given that white people still have most of the power and often the media attention, telling us to sit down and shut up isn’t a productive answer, but neither is white people attempting to speak on behalf of minorities.

        I tried to but couldn’t so I thought I’d google trolling gifs. None were too remarkable until I came upon this gem. I am not posting it in gif format for two reasons 1) it’d ruin its magnificence 2) it’s probably NSFL. That said, I can now somehow picture the word “trolling” coming out of Peggy Noonan’s mouth.

        PS: What the fuck could the purpose of that drawing be?! I am going to be haunted by this question for hours.
