Somehow, “she loved pandas” really landed a gut punch. Poor baby.

My 9-year old daughter loves pandas. Is obsessed with them in fact. She has twenty stuffed pandas, draws them, and watches Panda Cam on her iPad.

I hope these monsters rot in hell.

Innocent until proven guilty, I know, but – hypothetically speaking – how does someone go from being an engineering student with a stepping stone into NASA to becoming an accessory to the murder of a child?

People do stupid shit when they somehow love their pedo boyfriends, I suppose. Either that, or she was also in on molesting the girl, or having knowledge of it, and would have also faced time if she had been ratted out.

I don’t understand how they’re opposed. His being a great engineering student has nothing to do with his sense of morality and empathy for other human beings.

Anna, are you on night shift now because you dared to take a vacation? If so, what wine are you drinking?

I didn’t really take a vacation — more of a bizarre work trip that I hope you’ll hear more about next week — but now that you mention it I wonder if there’s wine in the kitchen...

If I may suggest, white over red at this hour. The tannins led to more hangovers. Heat also kills wine, so keep it away from stoves and refrigerators.

Yup, same here. A drawback of losing my (marginal amount of) religion, ages ago: no heaven or hell. Eternal firey torment sounds about right, for these two.

Cases like this really (REALLY) try my stance against the death penalty.

There are just some out there who are evil to the core.

Thank you for not putting the honor roll, athlete extraordinaire image that every news outlet has been using over and over again. This is much more representative.

I think the honor roll picture is how he got in a position to commit the crimes.

Lordy, the previous posts on this about Deadspin with dudes rushing to his defense in the comments with how it “must have been an accident” and also definitely the woman charged as his accomplice’s fault and not his were nauseating.

This reminds me a bit of the University of Texas case from a while back, where a girl friend of the killer did an enormous amount of helping him try to get away with it for no conceivable reason/gain. In fact, when asked why she did so by a reporter, she reportedly said “because thats how I roll.”

Anyway, my heart goes out to the family of this young girl. So sad.

Somehow when I read the headline I thought they had only been caught *plotting* the kidnap and murder, and the wee lamb was still alive.

    NOPE. Burn everything.

I talked to the most unsavory people on the internet when I was Nicole’s age. I am so, so glad it was with people in AIM and IRC chats thousands of miles away with no chance of finding me because my dad was a wary computer nerd.

Poor kid. Rest in peace, Nicole.

Same. My dad is both a techie and a cop. I was so convinced at ages 13-15 that my parents had no idea what AOL chatrooms I was wandering into, but I highly suspect my dad knew all and was heavily monitoring my activity. He can sometimes be a little paranoid because of the stuff he’s seen (he got very upset that I included my birthday for friends-only on FB, for example) but in many cases it does seem better to be safe instead of sorry.

Death for both. And let’s begin to acknowledge, although men are responsible for 90 percent of violent crimes, there are a sizeable number of women out there just as sadistic.

I agree. If they are guilty, they deserve the death penalty. This is exactly the type of crime/case the death penalty should be reserved for.
