If people didn’t have cars, they wouldn’t have their cars stolen. If people didn’t have houses, they wouldn’t have their houses broken into. If people weren’t born, they wouldn’t be murdered.

Just saying. Stop being born y’all. You’re asking for it.

      I await your dismissal.

A friend of mine is dealing with this now. She dated a guy for a year, and when they broke up he threw a tantrum and put a video online. She didn’t find out; they eventually reconciled.

After a while, they got married. And this piece of shit never told her and never tried to take the video down. Of course the marriage failed. Of course he threw another tantrum and re-posted the same video. Only then did one of her work colleagues (!!!!!) stumble onto the video and let her know.

Fortunately, he picked the wrong state for this. His life is in the process of being dismantled. But even in a state with strict, clear revenge porn laws, the process is taking forever.

I’m so sorry for your friend, what a betrayal. Absolutely thrilled to hear that piece of shit is being held accountable. Best wishes for your friend, I hope she gets justice and also good therapy because holy shit I don't know how someone learns to trust again after something like that :(

Good! Because guys who persuade women who love and trust them to give them nude/sexy photos/videos and then betray that trust because they have the emotional maturity of a blueberry scone can go screw themselves. In jail.

If you taped someone having sex with you, and then posted it online when you broke up, you are a donkey-raping shit eater. I don’t even know how it could be clearer than this. I don’t even recognize the white/black/kinda grey comments going on here. YOU SUCK.

I have a creative way of handling such requests. Each and every photo predominantly features at least one middle finger. I bet someone out there has a fetish for that type of stuff though.

I love the troll arguments. I am in a long term committed relationship. We have intimate videos. Troll logic would imply that if we split up, my x could post the videos and I should EXPECT IT bc I allowed myself to be filmed in the first place?

Using this logic, I could become quite wealthy. Am I allowed to sue Zaxby’s for feeding me copious amounts of fried chicken during my last preggo which lead to a heart attack?

Exactly. Many here said the women were dumb and foolish for taking photos in the first place. I’m sorry, but if after the two decades I’ve been married my husband decides to upload intimate photos I took for his eyes only, I’m the person who should feel badly for my actions and I am foolish for trusting? What the hell? Why be in a relationship at all if you don’t trust your partner? That’s what makes this so sinister. These weren’t creep shots from a stranger, they were an outrageous breech of trust by someone they loved and put their trust in.

This is why you don’t take nude pictures with anyone. You just can’t trust people with that kind of stuff. The hard thing about prosecuting this is what happens when the server is in a foreign country? Obviously a server in the US should comply with US law but it’s going to be hard to stop this kind of harassment.

weren’t there even some cases where people hacked into Webcams and took pics to post? and then informing the victims to pay money to get the pics removed?

“nonconsensual pornography, defined as the distribution of sexually graphic images of individuals without their consent.”

Yet another reason Gawker’s publication of Hulk Hogan’s sex video, and refusal to remove the footage as it was against Hogan’s wishes and video-taped without his consent, is so fucking dead wrong. Nick Denton chose a strange hill to let Gawker Media die on.

Because it is hypocritical as fuck, every time an article on revenge porn is posted, Gawker Media’s own hypocritical (and unethical) stance on the subject should also be mentioned.

And sorry not sorry—Jezebel is owned by Gawker—so no ones’ hands are clean here either.

I’m honestly surprised there aren’t repercussions for this sort of thing already. It seems akin to shoving someone outside naked and locking the door. That being said, don’t trust anyone with this kind of shit because people are spiteful assholes. If you must make amateur porn, make sure YOU have the ONLY copy and for the love of Pete, don’t upload it to the cloud!

Anthony Weiner’s career was pretty much ruined that way and his was covered with a thin layer of cotton. You’re right though. Those do nothing shit lickers don’t give a shit unless the issue smacks them in the face directly.

Image recognition and making it a federal crime could clear away most of the pics pretty quick if you put one or two FBI personel on it.

I don’t get how revenge porn or doxxing falls under any sort of protect. It is a clear intent to harm and cause damage. It’s not like free speech protection for people of the Westboro Baptist Church because while there is an temporary emotional toll whenever they have those protests they aren’t causing permanent harm. This isn’t about feelings. (I'm not saying the victims feelings just that a law on this issue isn't happening because people felt hurt there is a toll beyond the emotional.) Removing naked pictures of yourself from the Internet is actually a lifelong sentence of having to get them removed and doxxing can force people to sell their house, move, job loss.

I feel like some kind of long-term community-service as a punishment would actually work well. A guy who posts naked pictures or videos of someone else? Let them work every weekend as the janitor at a rape crisis center under a gag order. Let him clean up the tissues that miss the basket, or wipe tears away from tabletops. Being forced every weekend to work without pay in a DV crisis center so they’re forced to just listen. Every weekend. For years. And if the hapless fuck says a damn word while on the floor? that day doesn’t count.
