Seriously, did Ted Cruz give her lessons on how to make the most effective “I’m a douchebag!”-face possible?

Y’know, I’m coming round to the idea that since these yahoos are going to present themselves as persecuted martyrs no matter what we do, let’s just go ahead and throw ‘em in jail for life. Solitary confinement, bread and water, the whole experience. It’s what they really want, right?

The worst part is, even with it being proven fake, even with the people who created it being sued, and even with people turning themselves in. They still won the war. That video has been used- and will continue to be used to attack women's rights.

He too is charged with tampering with a governmental record, as well as “prohibition of the purchase and sale of human organs.” Both are misdemeanors and neither of them are looking at serious prison time (if convicted, Daleiden could do up to a year on the human organs charge).

I’m very confused, when this was reported last week it was clear that both of them were being charged with felony counts and that they both face up to 20 years in prison?

    Has that changed?

ETA: Confirmed, it’s still a felony and 20 years (see your first link).

ETA the second: I do think “neither of them are looking at serious prison time” is a correct statement, though. No way the end result is anything more than a plea deal to something minor.

You’re totally right, tampering in this instance is a felony. That’s entirely my mistake and I apologize. I struck that last line. Again, sorry about that!

But yeah at most I would bet they get like... 90 days and a fine, if that. But who knows! This one’s full of surprises!

Okay, I know these people are insane and logic doesn’t work with them. But why do they think PP would want to harvest baby parts to sell? Those baby parts (fetal tissue) have no other use after being harvested (removed in a medical procedure) except for medical research. It’s not like they can be sold on the black market. No adult human has any use for a fetus’ kidney or liver, if they even have any organs at that time.

You have to understand the mindset of the forced birthers. They believe that Planned Parenthood tricks women into getting pregnant so they can then abort the pregnancy. They believe PP was founded for the purpose of ending minorities via abortion. They believe Jon Kyl’s not factual statement about 90% of what PP does is abortion. It’s not a stretch for the deluded folks to believe there’s a black market for baby parts and PP’s a part of it.

OMG I’ve been saying this the whole time. Even assuming they’re evil, what exactly are they going to do with it? But really I think they’re so anti-science and just plain delusional that they don’t care about the medical advances. I saw comments on one article where anti-choice people were yelling about how fetal tissue isn’t actually used for anything real and that scientists can easily use other stuff (?) instead. Because I’m sure all these researchers are like, sure, I could just get whatever random science stuff to do my experiment, but wouldn’t it be more fun to go to some fetal tissue company and get their stuff sent here on ice and whatnot.

They weren’t whistleblowers. First, to be whistleblowers they would have had to been working in a federal job. Second, their employer would have had to retaliate against them for whistleblower protection to kick in. Neither of these things happened. Instead they went on a fishing expedition using illegal methods to “investigate” a non-governmental organization. Completely different situations.

Unbelievable morons, these people. Where did their lawyers go to school? Bill and Bobby’s Home/Law School?

Merritt, 62, who worked for the Center for Medical Progress, the anti-abortion group that made the videos, and who is accused of using a fake ID with the name Sandra Tannenbaum, appeared in court in Houston Wednesday morning. She posted a $2,000 bond and was immediately released.

This doesn’t indicate whether or not she has managed to clean the blood of three dead Oregonians off her hands.
