    Anyone else remember the lulzy prequel TV movie (I think, definitely wasn’t in the cinema) Manchester Prep starring a young Amy Adams as Katherine? XD If you’re reading this and thinking “Huh, Amy Adams playing a damaged-but-in-a-sexxxxy-way manipulative bad girl vamp who destroys everything she touches, I don’t see that working well”, you’re right, and it didn’t.

    I’d rather a show based on the original Dangerous Liaisons. Yes, Cruel Intentions was fun, but it was so, so, so 90s. Make it a period drama with fabulous Rococo wigs and put it on HBO. I’m so there.

    I know there’s no chance that Reese Witherspoon would appear in this in any way, shape, or form, but what’s Sarah Michelle Gellar been up to lately? She was the real star of that movie and I would give anything to see her in a full time series as an adult Kathryn Merteuil.

    This is the one movie where I found Ryan Phillippe just so unattractive. Also, this movie really just has the 3 tropes of heterosexual women in movies. The Manipulative and Evil Temptress™, The Virgin Who is Different From Other Girls™, and The Dumb and Vapid Slut™. The only thing that’s missing is The Girl Who is Strong Because She Grew Up With All Brothers™.

    So I will not be watching this show.

    ETA: Forgot The Career Woman Who is Too Busy to Have Sex™.

    I want anyone who wants to bitch about unnecessary takes on classics to get back to me after reading Les Liaisons Dangereuses in the original French.

    Because I already have, back when I took a course on epistolary novels for my degree in French. Anything done to make the work palatable is fine by me.

      By the way, for the person accusing me of humblebragging - there’s nothing humble, feigned or otherwise, about what I said. I got a college degree in French, read the original of Dangerous Liaisons, and I think little of it. That’s simple bragging along with a personal opinion.

      I mean, if you’re going to take shots at me, at least get it right.
