The incident only ended when his parents arrived.

    WHEN HIS PARENTS ARRIVED.

I would like to think of myself as a rational, non-violent person. If, however, I arrived to pick up my child and found this?

I’m not a parent, but the thought of being in the position those parents found themselves in fills me with a kind of blind, impotent rage that brings angry tears to my eyes.

Two of these assaults took place on the bus.

On the bus, in the presence of their teammates and adult supervisors.

If I was one of the parents, the adults on the bus and the school district would be facing massive civil lawsuits. This was allowed to happen, if not tacitly encouraged.

    I just can’t even.

That’s what I was thinking. How many other team members were on the bus? And the ADULT coaches who were on the bus can go straight to hell.

As we address the inappropriate behavior displayed by several students ...

    "Inappropriate behavior"? Inappropriate behavior!?

They’re accused of rape, not egging the principal’s house.

Way to approach this issue with the gravity it deserves. Jesus Christ.

Egging property will get your shot dead in this country. Raping minors gets side eye for inappropriate behavior.

A sobering reminder that men are 82,000x more likely to be raped than falsely accused of rape.

Jesus Fucking Christ, those poor kids. Also this line absolutely haunts me:

“The incident only ended when his parents arrived.” A tragedy and a nightmare on every level.

The idea of coming across my child being assaulted...that poor family. Later, when the attorneys for the rapists start with the “boys will be boys” stuff, my head may literally, literally explode.

I’m heartbroken for all of them.

The defence tactics will likely be infuriating, but I don’t blame the attorneys at all. The attorneys for the rapists have a job to do. They are ethically and legally required to zealously defend their clients. It’s not their fault “boys will be boys” plays with juries. It’s more of an imperative that we as a society push for a collective morality that does not accept “boys will be boys” as a defense.

    Oh my God their names.

    Tanner, Chase, Sage and Hunter.

Edit: How the fuck did they manage this on a school bus? Was their coach or bus driver or whatever blind and deaf?

Rape culture is when rape is thought of as so insignificant a crime, that it’s used for pranks and hazing. These teenage boys see rape as a joke. And that’s a problem.

Bet they find prison rape to be hilarious.

As we address the inappropriate behavior displayed by several students, we remain committed to supporting the vast majority of our student athletes,...

Not the other students, not other potential victims, but the athletes. They’re who the school thinks deserves support.

As we address the inappropriate behavior displayed by several students, we remain committed to supporting the vast majority of our student athletes, who are quality individuals that demonstrate positive behavior and strong character traits.

Really? “Inappropriate behavior” is stuff like cursing on the bus or shaking up someone’s soda. Rape is not “inappropriate behavior,” it’s a serious fucking crime.

It would be really super duper gee golly gosh so nice if they could mention their commitment to supporting the victim, not supporting the vast majority of our student athletes.

    Something’s rotten in Norman.
