The original headline for this post, “Donald Trump Is Not the Richest Tycoon Named Trump,” was based on a misreading of the cited ABC News report. That headline may have been true, but we don’t actually know enough about Eddie or Jules’ net worth to be able to say it. So we won’t.

Edmond Trump, co-founder of the Trump Group, is worth $96 billion dollars.

Nope. The only picture I can find of Edmond has watermarks all over it but by god, he’s got a glorious mane.

Edmond and Jules Trump make up for it by not being Islamophobes who want to pork their own daughters.

“The difference with Eddie and Jules is that they build their own buildings. They don’t take a label and stick it on somebody else’s product,” Goldstein said. “Donald Trump isn’t that involved in his projects. He comes down, makes three appearances, gets his commission and goes away.”

After “We Built It” I am very interested to find out how the actual nature of Trump’s real estate business plays out if he gets the GOP nomination, I have a feeling that GOP interests really don’t want the way he structures, finances and limits liability in “his” real estate dealings to become an issue, right now it would probably very much be a cut off your nose to spite your face situation.

“Plaintiffs have used the Trump family name for 40 to 50 years in the New York area. More recently, the Trump Organization has come to stand for respectability and success[...]”

“The defendants are South Africans whose recent entrance in the New York area utilizing the name ‘the Trump Group’ can only be viewed as a poorly veiled attempt at trading on the goodwill, reputation and financial credibility of the plaintiff.” (Emphasis mine.)

Bwahahahaha! Oh wait—this was 1988, after like the first bankruptcy filing. Calling Trump (the American one) a peddler was way too generous.

Trump lost the case once the judge realized that no one in their right mind would want to appropriate Trump’s (lack of) financial credibility and goodwill.

“We’ve engaged socially,” Jules told the Times. “It was fine.”

Holy shit I’m going to be looking for opportunities to use this beaut.
