Somebody needs to put a stop to this shitshow. On top of being racist and ridiculous, it really thumbs its nose at his legacy and his influence on black culture. He was the biggest star ever, to be honest, we in the “third world” loved him just as much too. Growing up in Guyana, MJ was one of the few things my cousins and friends all over the diaspora could bond over. My cousins in India knew who he was and loved him, and so did my relatives in Brazil. His music and his image spoke to us like no white celebrity could have. Now that I saw this interview, I would also say that this casting is being disrespectful of his dignity, given how much shit people gave and still give him about his skin colour.

  He had vitiligo. Nobody has that skin tone except an albino or someone else with vitiligo. Where are they going to find an actor with the same rare skin disease? There’s not a good answer to this casting issue, although I agree a black actor in makeup would be preferable to a white guy.

  I saw a parade or something that he was in on TV and asked my sister who the white lady at the front was (this was the early 90's so I was elementary school age and hadn’t really heard of MJ or Jackson 5).
