      They collect 2% of assets under management whether they make money or not.

      They earn their fee on a percentage of assets held, not gains. When there are gains, there are additional commissions at various milestones.

      I dunno, maybe invest it in real companies that make real products instead of ever more complex financial shell games designed to create money out of nothing from rubbing one’s fingers together enough times. That’s what they did before hedge funds existed.
