      If Will Smith wasn’t in contention for an award their boycott would probably not be as impactful. It actually makes MORE sense to me to boycott because you got snubbed

      The funny part is that Will hasn’t even said he’s boycotting, only Jada. (I mean, I’m guessing he probably will, but he hasn’t made any kind of a statement about it and Jada’s doesn’t mention him.)

      So Aunt Viv is directing this whole tirade at him over something he hasn't even said.

    okay, maybe Aunt Viv is salty, but:

    like, how was his performance in Concussion? I heard that it was a good enough movie and sparks an important conversation, but it wasn’t anything stellar. Was it actually Oscar worthy? Because Idris’ performance was. Not sure about Will in general and haven’t seen the film.

    That said, the best actor field this year is weak af.

      It was a bad movie and he was bad in it. Just my opinion. I haven’t seen Beasts, but Idris is always great and I don’t even have to watch it to know he deserves a nom over Will.

      I haven’t seen it yet, because that’s totally a Netflix movie, but all the reviews seem to agree that he’s pretty good in an okay but kind of melodramatic, boring movie. So, he did a pretty good job, the movie doesn’t suck, but it’s not so great either.

      Michael B. Jordan should have been nominated.

    Amen! Jada and Will are part of the problem. They aren’t producing films for upcoming coming actors of color to showcase and hone their skills. They’re producing shit films for their own obnoxious progeny. Jada’s only concern is that her husband didn’t get nominated. She doesn’t give a crap about the other actors and movies that might have deserved awards. She cares about one thing and one thing only - the celebrity clout of the Pinkett-Smith family.

      They aren’t supporting up and comers though. Most of their “support” is for Will (seriously, look at the list - half of them starred Will and/or one of their kids and it would be slightly more than half if they had kept with their original idea of “Annie” being a vehicle for Willow and one of the movies was Jada’s shot at directing) and their Hollywood buddies. I’ll give them credit for The Secret Life of Bees though. That was a GREAT movie and didn’t have any obvious Pinkett-Smith family and friends promotion going on.
