    Oddly, a Philly cop was attacked by a guy saying something about ISIS as well, though I didn’t see anything about it on Gawker.

      Considering Gawker is based out of Philly and specilizes in reporting about that city, you are completley valid in your criticism of Gawkers inability to keep up with 100% of the news.

      Plus, honestly, a cops safety is worth less than that of a citizen by definition. It is why they get nice benefits and are allowed exemption from basic laws.

      Don’t worry, I posted about the same story and even emailed a tip the Friday before. I was “consistenly reassured” it wasn’t a big deal. For all the blustering about a “gun problem” on this site, you’d think some shitheel emptying his pistol at a cop would be front page news. No one here cares or wants to hear about cops being attacked esp. by a minority. You’ll be waiting a very long time before anything resembling objectivity is seen here.

          For context: the assault happened in Parkchester in the Northeast Bronx, the part that’s mostly a working class bedroom community. It’s always been both tight-knit and tightly wound in terms of demographics; you have immigrant groups (Bangladeshis, Albanians and various Eastern bloc groups), and they mostly keep to themselves.

          Without taking out the seriousness of the country’s paranoid state in manufacturing this kind of incident, I would not be surprised if these were some high school kids just doing anti-social shit for the lulz.
