I’m obsessed with the Hourglass Dim Light powder and Kat Von D Everlasting liquid lipstick. Plus I just ordered the most beautiful set of rose gold Zoeva brushes that I cannot wait to arrive.

SO after hearing really good things about Pixi’s new skincare stuff I decided to try the glow tonic (an exfoliating toner) and it did not break me out or irritate my skin so I bought a full size and could not resist getting the Pixi glow mud mask. I am a sucker for mud masks. I reallllly hope I love them because if I don’t I will probably destroy tokyo.

Hey Jezzies, whatcha drinking? More Kevita for me! I had some vodka earlier this week, but I just don’t feel much like drinking today. Still getting over the nasties. The headache is better and the fever, while still there, has gone down. It’s that persistent cough that still gets me though. I hate that shit, especially because it’s making it nearly impossible for me to sleep.

I started my class this week- Entertainment in American Life. That should be a breeze. I actually get to read a book of my own choosing, go to the movies, and play video games for this class, because it’s evaluating the history of entertainment, and how it’s changed over the years. So I’m reading “No Country For Old Men” (again), watching “The Hateful Eight” in theaters (which my prof. warned me would be a bloodbath) and playing Super Mario Maker. I’ve fallen into quite the rabbit hole with that game.

I’m about to cozy up with Bobcat Goldthwait’s “God Bless America”. Never cared much for his stand-up, but he is brilliant behind the scenes as a writer and director. This, “Shakes the Clown” and “World’s Greatest Dad” were awesome. (Especially the latter.) If you haven’t seen GBA, rectify that immediately, for it is streaming on Netflix.

And for my weekly, sniff, contribution from my playlist.

Redd’s Apple Ale this evening. Never tried it until yesterday. It is something of an acquired taste. I’ll be curious to sample some other flavors. Any recommendations?

Guys....I rarely watch Saturday Night Live, but I actually want to see it tonight. I say a commercial for the episode and the guy who plays Emo Kylo Ren (that’s his name, don’t tell me otherwise. He should just change it for good) in Star Wars is hosting it and it actually looked funny.

Yeah, I saw the promos for that too, and am DEF watching [once it turns up on Hulu etc]. I have a completely unreasonable crush on Adam Driver now. And also Domhnall Gleeson. And John Boyega. And obvs Harrison Ford forever and ever amen. So basically like most of the cast.

Same here, all of them were fantastic and were making me swoon! I walked out of the theatre adoring Adam Driver AKA Emo Kylo Ren. My friend told me he is in that show Girls and he is crazy hot in it, but if I watched it I would also have to watch Lena Dunham and I just don’t know if I am ready for that kind of commitment.

I love Harrison Ford so much I wouldsupport him playing Han Solo in the prequels, he could defienetly do it I don’t care how old he is. I will watch older Harrison Ford play a character that is supposed to be younger than his original Star Wars character over any of the clowns on the shortlist to play prequel Han Solo.

I had cervical spine surgery Tuesday, ask me anything!

It was a posterior decompression and foraminotomy at C7/T1. All went well, but damn, I never want to be put under again if it can be avoided. No allergic reaction, fortunately! It’s just that it took about three days to really wake up from the drugged haze, and I didn’t even take any pain meds or muscle relaxants afterward, nothing sleepy-making. Only regular Tylenol from the drugstore!

Fun Unexpected Things: I can snap my fingers on the left hand again now. I haven’t been able to do that for years! Also I am slightly taller than before the procedure.

Unrelated: WHY do cats wait until you are eating to poop? WHY? WHY?

Sorry for the long, whiny post, but does anybody have any advice on being weaned off of an antidepressant and being switched to another?

I’ve been on Prozac for about a year and a half now. The past couple of months have been the emotional pits for me; I am simultaneously so low energy that I can’t clean my living space or get outside, but I’m so anxious that I have panic attacks that make me feel like I’m having a heart attack and dying.

My psychiatrist and I have decided to switch meds, so I’ve been off Prozac since Tuesday, and my emotional sensitivity has gone through the roof. For example, this morning I got into a small fight with my mother and it took me so low that I literally wished to die, and this afternoon someone called me a lying troll in the comments and it spun me into a full-blown fit of anxiety for an hour. And now I’m just in this weird state of feeling so much, but being too drained to do anything about it. So I’m just in my bed watching Harry Potter, paralysed.

I know on a higher-thinking level that it’s probably just withdrawal, but it’s so overwhelming. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to help as I get through until the 26th? And does anyone have any experience with antidepressants that have worked well for him or her?

Sorry for the barrage of negativity. Thanks to anyone who has any insight!

Anti-depressant withdrawal is terrible, terrible stuff. My best advice is to avoid life all together, but that’s not exactly feasible, you know? So, if you aren’t on one already, you should ask your doctor to put you on a low dose benzo like ativan or xanax to help you get through the worst of it when you’re having serious panic attacks. Just as a temporary thing though, if you’re not on them already.

    Hey JezzTones,

    Thinky question this evening:
Do you consider yourself still open to the world and new possibilities - or are you more in the “happiest with current coping/numbing mechanisms of choice” camp?

ie: Does yonder jaded/world weariness envelop all - or do silver linings still occasionally make it through your filter?

Both, which might sound like an odd response, but I’m really quite severely disabled due to poor health. So, while I’m open to things, if they’re not easily done from indoors at home, I usually can’t do them. This requires that I be happy with my modes of coping!

Guys. GUYS. Jezebel followed me. Just like an hour ago. I’ve never been so happy and excited about something while simultaneously unable to brag about it to people I know in real life since none of them know I comment here.

It’s been years of commenting here, through so many changes, and I am unreasonably excited about this.

Viva Jezebel! And Viva you wonderful commentators I love so much! Wooooo!

I go on vacation tomorrow so this really couldn't have happened at a better time. Woot!

Being bummed about silly things: the SPCA called and my phone died when I picked it up. Charged it up, called them back, found out they’d had a mum and five 3 week old kittens needing fostering, but when I didn’t answer they called someone else. There is no reason to be sad about this. But I am. I have the worst kitten fever.

    Kitten pics appreciated.

Okay cat people, I am sorry about nattering on about this constantly but I have more questions. I’ve never had a cat before but my very first kitten comes home in two weeks. What is up with litter boxes? Do any of you have self-cleaning litter boxes? Is your entire apartment gross? Help :/ the whole litter box thing is the main reason it took me so long to pull the trigger on operation: cat.

Yayyyyy! Litter is really not that bad in my experience. I’ve had three foster cats (and one of my own) and the worst bathroom problem I’ve encountered is my fat cat scoots on his butt sometimes after making a bm.

I use a covered litter box (so they enter through a little hole in the front) and scoop it once a day. If your cat doesn’t have some kind of health problem it’s really not that gross. Sometimes they kick the litter out of the box a bit so you have to sweep it up.

I have a Litter Genie and I recommend them. Only one of my cats uses the box regularly (the other two go in the garden), but even so, I don’t wanna bag up and carry out a scoop of pee and/or poop three times a day, which is what it would take to keep the place odor-free without the Genie.

Auto-boxes can scare the cat off from the box, so... people do have good experiences with them, but I wouldn’t recommend it. I also don’t think toilet-training them is a good idea, because they can’t balance on the seat when they get old and creaky in future. Traditional box all the way! But get yourself a disposal device to keep by the box.

Good luck! And please post pics when she’s with you!
