Typical. “Well, she consented to have sex with THAT guy, so we thought....”

    Consent doesn’t work like that.

Yeah. Sadly, a lot of men think this way. You’ve had sex with him before; therefore, you’ll have sex with him again. You’ve had sex with anyone before; therefore, you’ll have with him. Basically, not a virgin = consented to sex with any man, whenever any man wants it.

I think I’ve shared the story of the guy I went out with (who I’d liked and been friendly with for years prior), whose friends all called me the next day to have sex with me. I was sitting at home, thinking about my lovely date and how I was going to cook him dinner, and then my phone starts ringing and these random dudes are all “Bob gave me your number. He thought maybe I could have some fun with you”.

      FFS.

Positive: The Police actually believe that it was assault and are investigating it as such.

    Negative: Everything else.

I would like something that confirms the story of the rapist. I mean, Richard Allen Davis made similar claims about Marc and Polly Klass.

Yeah. My first thought is “since when does the word of rape suspects get precedence”? And then I remembered......................all of the time (unfortunately).

What scares me as this sounds like the beginning of a crusade against the victim, in the media, spurred on by the defense attorneys, and probably by a few disgruntled rape apologist police officers (of which there are many).

All of this sounds horrible, like a perfect storm of awfulness that all converged at the same time.

I read that she had been adopted at some point in her life. Not sure how much of a role the father played in her life, but they recently reconnected and had some sort of weird relationship that may or may not have crossed some very fucked up line. Aside from the possible sex, you don’t get wasted with your 18 year old kid.

That being said, even if she was having sex with her father (ugh) that doesn’t mean 5 other dudes are allowed to rape the girl.

Exactly. And, frankly, I don’t care if two adults who are related are fucking. I really don’t.

Genetic Sexual Attraction is a real disorder that isn’t totally uncommon in a situation where an adult child meets their biological parent after years of separation. They didn’t bond as parent and child and so it opens the door to all this craziness. Not justifying it - just saying that it’s kind of ‘normal’ in an already messed up situation.

I love how these guys think asking her father if they can have sex with her is “consent.” Morons. It’s like, no you have to ask the person you’re having sex with.

      Ye. Appears so.

“They indicated that father is the one who put her in this compromised position and they took advantage,” the official said, adding that the suspects claim that as they walked into the playground, “One of them says ‘we’ll take it from here.’”

The two suspects also told investigators that they believe their sex acts were consensual.

So, the fact that this girl was the victim of incest and rape is the sole fault of the police now. Good view point.

I agree a lot of people have failed this woman, but the police are just the latest group to do so. At least now they are also investigating the father. She was failed first by her parents, then by any social support system she may have had, then by her adoptive parents (if she still has any). Girls (and boys) like her are swept up in an undercurrent of abuse and neglect that we don’t have the means to fix until something horrific like this gets reported.

She is 18. You are muddying the waters. It is possible for her to consent to sex with her father. The most important thing now is for the cops to figure out who she consented to have sex with and who raped her.
