To be fair, it’s always a good time to be David Bowie. Do you honestly think that you’re going to do death nearly as well as him? You are not.

Dude turned his last few months into the most audacious album he’s made. Yeah, he did death better than any of us will.

Plus when you get lonely, all you need to do is look in a mirror and say; “David Bowie… I need you.” And poof! Him and a whole bunch of puppets show up and you all party the fuck down. Only Bowie could make that happen.

“It’s a good time to be Adolf Hitler! He recently celebrated his 56th birthday, and rumor has it he and longtime sweetheart Eva Braun will be tying the knot later today. (Have a blast, you two!)” —Der Angriff (morning edition), April 30, 1945

Blackstar was just released. What are the odds that in the next few days we’re going to read some harshly critical review by a writer who is presently searching for the deepest hole on earth?

I have to stop myself from posting a THE MOST IGNORANT SNOWFLAKE AWARD on a facebook friend’s recent status about ‘being the only person who doesn’t know who David Bowie is’.

      *long, laboured groan*

Not even gonna lie: that made me laugh aloud for nearly a minute.

Then, when my students asked why I was laughing, I explained the irony in the headline. They jsut gave me blank stares. Okay, one of them said, “Uh, I think I’ve heard of David Bowie....”

    That’s when I stopped laughing.

My kids were actually kind of upset. Apparently Labyrinth is HUGE with the 14-18 crowd these days.

Kinda thought because he was still releasing records at 69, he’d always be around. Turns out the opposite is true.

It’s weirdly surprising, isn’t it? I think I always assumed anyone so fabulous was naturally immortal.
