On a more general level, why doesn’t liberal media do as well as conservative media? Is it that our own personal causes are diluted? Is is that if we don’t agree with them 100% on an issue, we ignore them?

(No, not a concern troll. Feel free to view my comment history).

Liberal media tends to be more reactionary, while conservative media tends to be more “creating-the-narrative” driven.

Also, fiction sites often do way better traffic than non-fiction sites.

I’m going with the reality has a liberal bias thing. Conservative media does well because it’s audience needs to be spoon fed “facts” and remain within it’s echo chamber. Informed liberals tend to do fine just reading or watching whatever, they don’t freak out when presented with different viewpoints or opinions that challenge their views like conservatives do.

He says $20m like that was a mark of his commitment. He misspent and wasted $20m and leaves the mag worse than when he bought it. You don’t get thanks for that.

Which is really saying something, considering how tainted TNR was from Marty Peretz’s Likudnik warmongering.

What’s the point of being a billionare if you can’t buy random companies you know nothing about, mess them up and ruin countless jobs, then retreat into your money?

Wait, you mean his being super rich is mostly because he was in the right place and the right time and not because he was a brilliant business person? That’s never happened!

        lol it’s so true!

do you think the google founders sit around and look at news, maybe email articles to each other about her Yahoo debacle?

sort of the same way guys might tease each other about a fantasy football league...

it’s so crazy...there are so many talented women worthy of being promoted to these positions but it’s always the Carly Fiorinas and Marissa Meyers that get promoted instead because they will follow orders

I mean, this sounds bad, but it’s totally understandable why the New Republic might be having some troubles right now.

Emperor Hughes: Klytus, I’m bored. What play thing can you offer me today?

Klytus: An obscure body in the Print Media System, Your Majesty. The inhabitants refer to it as The New Republic.

Emperor Hughes: How peaceful it looks. [He activates a console, and watches as mass resignations, etc. start to occur. They both get a good laugh out of it.]

Klytus: Most effective, Your Majesty. Will you destroy this New Republic?

Emperor Hughes: Later. I like to play with thing a while before annihilation. [laughs evilly]

Ok, ok, fine. If I win the powerball, I’ll buy the magazine, but I’d rather own The Nation (the magazine, not the US... there’s better value in other parts of the world if I wanted a country to rename Corbettostan.)

              We knew this would happen.

              We all knew.

Rich dorks are still dorks...even if they dress well.

They came in with this silicon valley delusion of a business plan and it ruined the publication.

For all time everyone learn it: “the internet” is just words and pictures....just like a newspaper....it’s just on a different type of page.

It’s humans who make a publication, not the type of page it is printed on.
