Fuck the whole world, David Bowie is dead. And shits like Trump still walk the earth. We have definitive proof life isn't fair.

Don’t even mention those two in the same breath. There are dozens of Bowie songs of which it could be said that he brought more happiness and wonder into the world with a single composition than most of us can hope to do in an entire lifetime.

David Bowie and people like him (including Stephen Fry, among many others) helped me during a very dark part of my life. If not for them, I’d never have been able to accept myself or my sexuality—and a very traumatic episode would not include the word "attempt."

My mom essentially told me this in middle school when I was being teased for...I dunno, being a person. As a result, Bowie was included in my “coming of age” soundtrack (and we all know how your music choices at that age seem to stick with you).

I literally just clicked on my computer screen for a moment — I was heading to bed — and this. My first purchased album (not a handmedown, not an unreturned "borrowing" from my older sister's collection) was Changes. I played the shit out of it, in the dark, with my headphones on, and the volume way up. God. Rest in Peace, Major.

Wow, I am completely and totally shocked. I didn’t even know he was sick.

It’s not quite as devastating as a Jim Henson or a George Carlin, but it’s so much more surprising.

I guess I’d just assumed Bowie was immortal.

Funny you use a Star Wars meme, I was reading Darths & Droids when I found out. (It’s a webcomic that turns Star Wars into a tabletop RPG).

I’d like to think David and Freddie are back together up there right now, making this the number one song in Heaven.

I dread Mick Jagger dying and then the hell that would be unleashed in heaven when they duet “Dancing in the Streets” for eternity.

Flight of the Concords is the only act that could properly send Bowie off.

I’m choosing to believe he went back to his home planet.

It doesn’t make it hurt less but it helps. I’m going to miss him so much. I’m still in shock. I’m listening to “Life on Mars” and sobbing.

It was the first thing I read when I woke up this morning and I actually gasped and burst into tears. Now I just have to get through the work day when all I want to do is go home, eat the pot cookie in my fridge and put The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust on my turntable for 5 hours.

I really admire people like Bowie, Warren Zevon, and Terry Pratchett who hear “it’s terminal” and think, “well, hell, I better get right to work, then.”
