    Authorities say a group called Los Rojos may have contracted the killing, in apparent retaliation for Mota’s support for a national unified state police command intended to replace local police departments.

    And here we have it. While the gangs have infiltrated every level of law enforcement, I’d bet the entire command structure of the local police force is under the supervision of whatever gang controls the town.

      I dunno through, how much should an assassination cost? I mean obviously it is bad and should never happen but there is a real market for it so there has to be a fair market price? Sure $30k seems low for the gravity of taking a human life but one would think that there is a price to high for the market to bare with murderous thug competition.

      God I feel dirty now.

          As a Texan, it’s completely heartbreaking to see how bad things have gotten in Mexico. I grew up going to border towns on long weekends and it was always such a wonderful experience, now I wouldn’t even think of doing it.

          It’s further disheartening to consider that change as it directly correlates with backwards-ass regressive Republican politics leading the state since the mid-90s.

          Here’s to the reincarnation of Ann Richards.

            So, we can be reasonably assured that “Los Rojos” are either the narcos who own the local drug trade or it’s the local cops themselves.

            Sadly, because this is Mexico, they’re probably one and the same.
