Drives me nuts when liberals have applauded her for the rare times she’s stood up for women’s issues. She’s a right winger, so OF COURSE she spoke out when the issue effected HER PERSONALLY.

But that’s where it ends. Otherwise she’s as vile as the rest of them.

That’s it. The only time she deviates from the Fox News plan is when it is an issue that impacts her at that immediate time. Everything else, forget it. Hooray for empathy.

My local mall has a Hickory Farms kiosk around the holidays every year, and every year, after the holidays, it’s still got full inventory.

What becomes of all that meat and cheese I wonder? I’d hate to imagine it just goes to a landfill.

Megyn Kelly has the job that she has because racist old white men like to look at pretty, blonde, white faces while they have their various biases stroked.

At least those old white men aren’t Bill Cosbies.

And she isn’t pretty, naturally. A natural beauty doesn’t have an oddly misshapen head, nor does she need to dye her hair like some frilly 80’s actually female drag queen.

I don’t get the love of fake blondes. You weird people are so boner about them. Fake blonde is the easiest way to spot someone trying an easy fix for being ugly. Goddammit you have me angry about all this.

Couldn’t care less about her as a person. She’s a shit reporter, and just another indicator of why we get the shitty news media we deserve.

I definitely am a part of the problem when it comes to cable news.

When I get home at night, all I want is for pretty people to tell me what happened today in the world.

That is why my cable news diet consists of Megyn Kelly, Erin Burnett and Anderson Cooper.

But in my defense, Burnett and Cooper actually are reasonable decent as far as cable news hosts go. They aren’t too shrill and they keep their analyst panels diverse without resorting to bringing in people who are obvious caricatures/strawmen. Also, it isn’t like I’m not laughing my ass off at everything Kelly says.

I’d also be lying if I said I didn’t change the channel in a hurry every time my wife comes in the room. If she caught me watching Fox News, she’d know what was up.

Personally one of the ways I avoid being called a racist is not only by not saying racist things but I also don’t hang out with a bunch of racists all day

Even if we were to give her the benefit of doubt the idea that she would associate herself with Fox News, well, it taints any benefit of doubt.

It is funny when white people whine about how no matter what they do, they will be accused of racism. That’s bs. I’m white and I never get accused of racism. It’s pretty easy to avoid. Just don’t be racist!

Like most science fiction, this is a pack of lies meant for babies.

Please do not malign the noble genre of science fiction by comparing it to Megyn Kelly.

And while she’s eager to position herself (or let the press position her) as the refreshing female alternative to the stodgy male Hannity/O’Reilly Fraternity, she’s no less the irresponsible race-baiter than they.

I’m not sure she’s really tried to do that at all. The only place that I’ve ever heard of her pulling punches in a way that suggests she cares what the rest of the media thinks about her is on the abortion topic, which could also be theoretically because she disagrees with existing Fox orthodoxy on that front.

I’m all for calling her terrible, because she is, but I don’t think she’s ever once many any effort to be “likable” to mainstream press, because if she had, it would backfire with her audience.

Walking that line is savvy and cynical, as Biddle points out. As he also points out, she lets the media do this for her (VF for example).

But “letting” them and “eager to position” are two seperate things. What Biddle implies is that she actively curries this position, and I doubt that is true.

I have no doubt that Kelly is far more interested in making sure she keeps Ayers happy, which means maintaining ratings, than she is in “glimpsing the singularity” of being a Fox News pundit on the one hand but being liked by non-conservative media outlets on the other.

The weird Megyn Kelly infatuation by low-info liberals is just bigotry of low expectations. Everyone around her is so awful that she seems all right in comparison. She’s always sucked, though.

There are a fair number of conservatives who have shinier reputations than warranted because of this phenomenon e.g. John McCain, John Kasich, Paul Ryan, Shep Smith...

Evgina Peretz Her dad is Marty Peretz, former editor of the New Republic and a big fan of the invasion of Iraq. I’m not saying her fawning over Kelly is a result of growing up with her dad, but I’m guessing the apple and the tree are pretty close together.

She also wrote a similarly glowing rehabilitative piece about shitemaster Dinesh D’Souza, with this head-snapping understatement of his ability to lie.

But in his public life he’s pathologically drawn to pushing the bounds of civil discourse, often with a disinterest in backing up his assertions with facts.

Kelly is the socially-acceptable (and blonde and purty, for the older male caucazoids) face of FoxNews that makes the racist, shit-slinging, divisive sludge she says go down smoothly, in a way that defuses some of the outrage that would come her way if she looked like, oh, say, Bill O’Reilly, who's just not got the same pop he used to, bless his loud, red, leathery face. She's the perfect outlet they could use to lend their bullshit some sense of legitimacy, and she's more than happy to go along with the game.
