Hey Jezzies, whatcha drinking? Fruit2o and codeine cough syrup for this little lady. Into the final stretch of my Twilight Zone marathon! I finally got some sleep last night, so I was able to watch a ton of them without commercials. Because my dumb ass DVRed them, despite owning them on DVD. I’m doing my life wrong right now, I know. I will pause it for Ash vs. Evil Dead’s finale, but that’s it. It’s just me, the kitties, and you lovely folks this evening because Cindymoo is working a 12 until 3:00 AM. So is anyone else finishing the marathon with me? Marathoning anything else? Did anyone take a dip in a frigid body of water like the crazy ass human polar bears in the Maumee River in my city to start the year?

I came up with a couple of resolutions. I will try not to beat myself up for being sick, and just be grateful for the days when I am not miserable. Also, I will write more, and do stand-up again within the next three months. I have to work my way back up, but I will get there. I’ve been walking through life like Danny on Trailer Park Boys, the guy in the background you frequently hear yelling “WHAT IN THE FUCK?!” But that’s okay, I’ve found. Life is unpredictable and fucky, a lot of things just don’t make sense, and I will just take things as they come.

Finally, a gift for my fellow TZ fans who also happen to love a little prog rock band from Canada.

I treated myself to some fancy rose champagne. It’s deliciously dry and almost painfully bubbly, I love it. I’m marathoning Jane the Virgin, mixed in with some Fallout breaks. My husband is at work all weekend, and I won’t see him till Monday, so I can watch Jane without him rolling his eyes at all the drama!

Yep. But I did laundry and actually put it away before everything was covered in wrinkles, so I took that as a sign to sit around the rest of the weekend.

Hey guys! Mindymoo always asks what you’re drinking, so I’m here to ask what you’re cooking/eating? I’ve got spaghetti squash in the oven now. Going to cook up some brocollini, green beans, and some “asian-ish” chicken thighs to go with. I spent the day watching Jane the Virgin, which if you haven’t watched, you need to ASAP. Jesus, it’s hilarious.

I’m getting used to a social every night, I’m going to have withdrawals tomorrow!!

I’m making a big pot of Italian sausage and tortellini soup with lots of spinach and zucchini mixed in. I’m going to thinly slice day old Italian herb bread, soak it in butter, sprinkle a bit of garlic salt on top and toast them in the oven. I’m throwing a mini, get over your hangover and watch a bunch of 30 Rock DVDs with me dinner party.

So this might be weird BUT, what is your favorite perfume/cologne/body spray?

I have never been massively into scents but today I realized I have accumulated like 15 different perfumes in the last year? I am wowed by myself AND I recently got a sample of Replica’s Lazy Sunday Morning and I want it JUST to spray on my bed everyday which YEAH it is a waste of 125 dollars but goddddd, it is SO good.

Also, second day of the year and I have already read two books. I am totally going to kick my reading goals ass again this year.

i swear by this stuff—in fact, it’s the only perfume i’ve worn for going on a decade now. the description of the scent from the clinique website is as follows: “A wealth of flowers. A hint of warmth. A deepening of emotions. With a heart of water hyacinth, brightened with Mandarin and blond woods. Wear it and have a happy heart”

it’s funny, because at least in my case it is very aptly named—it really does give me a rush of happiness every time i smell it. i think it’s the combination of water hyacinth (it’s nextdoor to roses in regards to romantic floral smells, imo) and citrus; it just has a light, feminine, almost whimsical air to it that never fails to cheer me. i’ve gotten innumerable compliments on it over the years as well, from both men and women. one of the reasons i’ve kept to it in fact is that i like to hear from people that i smell good, it’s one of my favourite compliments to get. i have a pretty sensitive nose and it makes a big difference for me when other people smell good, so it’s nice to know i smell good to others.

ONE favorite? That’s pretty much impossible! But right now, since it’s finally cold again, most-worn is probably Union’s Celtic Fire. I just got four samples ordered from SurrenderToChance, which I’d been SO looking forward to, anddddd.... one is fine but not slaying me (Comme des Garcons’ WonderOud), one is kinda bleh and feels really dated and Too Much (CdG’s Serpentine), and the other two are goddamn nasty (Byredo’s Oud Immortelle and Tauer’s Lonestar Memories). SO DISAPPOINT.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a game that is capable of wasting enormous amounts of time, but would be accessible/engaging to a non-gamer? Or more generally, something distracting for someone dealing with some bad anxiety issues?

The person in question finds solitaire to be a good distraction, but I would like to be able to offer other things.

I have accidentally sunk 85 hours into Triple Town, if that’s any good to you. I don’t even remember doing it and it’s not a hard game in the least.

You might like the computer game Monkey Island. There are at least 5 different game iterations and it’s more puzzle based. It’s fun interacting with different characters and doesn’t necessarily feel like a “gamer game.”

So I’ve decided to give OKC another shot even though it’s historically been the worst. Because people are always looking for new dates in the new year, right? Then I got a gross message (not the usual “hey sexi bb” ugh) and now I’m considering running away from all men permanently again.

If it’s any help, all my friends who’ve done online dating like OKC the best. Surprised the hell out of me, but they say it’s been the best for them, and they had tried the paid services as well.

Can someone who has successfully transformed their body give me some tips? I have worked out regularly for about fourteen years. I’m 32. I am 132 pounds and I have pretty much been this weight the whole time. I have a healthy diet but I just eat too much sugar most of the time. I am a true chocaholic. I’m not worried about the food. I have and can again get that under control. It is just when I don’t see the results that I want that I say “screw it” and start eating too much sugar.

My question is pretty general. I look like an average sized, petite woman who still jiggles all over. I am now following the “new rules of lifting for women” as so many of you suggested. I’m on phase four and I love lifting heavy. I hate cardio but I do it about twice a week.

I look at some of the women in the gym and they are just so toned and lovely. I want that. I’m doing all of the work outs just like they are. Sometimes I feel like I’m doing more but nothing is changing. Even when my diet is sugar free.I’m just not gaining any muscle. I see some slight changes but I dont[ know what else to do. I know that I don’t get as much protein as I should but I still get a lot. Is that it? I am striving for 100 grams a day but I usually fall short. What do you guys do that has kept you in shape consistently? This is just one lifestyle change that I would actually like to see come to pass. I work to hard not to.

I’m being pretty vague because I know a lot about fitness but I’m just discouraged and want to hear about what you guys do and how you eat. I know so much but can’t make it work for me.

I feel your struggles! I’ve been dong yoga and zumba for 2 years now and have gained aimed attic muscle tone! I’ve lost a few inches here and there, but not a lot of the jiggly fat is leaving. The numbers on the scale have actually increased but my clothes are slightly looser

Problem is I enjoy wine too much to cut it out completely however lately I’ve been getting extra health issues despite working out 3-4 times a week. Going to see my doctor this week since myfamily has a history of hypothyroidism. The symptoms are there so hopefully this will be what is holding me back.

Not sure what is going to work for you but it’s very true that what worked for your body in your 20’s often doesn’t at all after 30....shit changes, no joke.

I’d consult with someone who trains and has a similar body type to you. The reason I say that is because sometimes it’s genetics that make all the difference but there are some tips that can help you achieve the look you are looking for. Also, are you lifting heavy or light? Heavy lifting will get you results faster, in my experience. Lastly, you will probably want to do an entire sugar detox because you will really see a difference in how you feel and your results over time. Good luck!

Entering into my third trimester and man oh man has it started to get uncomfortable. Now that my due date is getting closer, I’m starting to get nervous about labor pains. Anyone out there care to share your labor stories? Any tips or tricks to keep in mind? This is my first time doing this and any advice from those that have been there is much appreciated!

I’m in the same boat as you - first time doing this, 36 weeks pregnant tomorrow and definitely starting to get the delivery jitters! Hope people have some interesting stories/good advice! Of course, I don’t have any, since this is my first pregnancy, but if you go on a site like the Bump or similar, each birth month board has a birth announcement thread and generally the people posting will tell their birth stories. I must have read 500 of them, just to get an idea of common things that happen, worst case scenarios, best case scenarios. Anyway, I found it to be somewhat helpful as far as getting an idea of what’s ahead.

Best of luck to you for a smooth rest of your pregnancy/delivery! :)

Thanks, thats a good idea! I feel like the stories that have filtered my way are either the dry textbook ones from my pregnancy books or the horror stories delivered-on-the-side-of-the-road-miles-from-a-hospital-fifteen-weeks-early kind and I could really use some middle ground stories to maintain my sanity, ya know?
