Whatcha drinking this New Years Eve, Jezzies? I found some Gonzo Porter, so I am happy. I am celebrating the evening with a sick Cindymoo, who infected me with her cough and sinus stuff. We are staying in so as not to cause a plague, and watching the Twilight Zone marathon. I look forward to it every year. They are showing the whole series, including episode bumpers! My favorite actors that recur are Jack Klugman and Burgess Meredith. Billy Mumy was a demon child, the song Fishheads aside.

Anyway, have a happy New Year. Fuck 2015, am I right? Right in the ear. I’m leaving you with a song that perfectly describes my relationship with my cats, which I know is not healthy.

    Hi, I’m not Sarah McLachlan.

Will you be an angel for a helpless gray?

Every day, innocent grays are ignored, hounded by trolls and neglected, and they’re crying out for help.

Please, call the number that’s not on your screen, and join the Jezebel Ungrayers with a small regular effort right now.

For just a few clicks a day, you’ll help rescue grays from the purgatory of invisibility, and provide emotional care, attention, self-confidence and love.

Call or join online in the next thirty minutes and you won’t receive this welcome kit with the photo of a gray in a shelter right now.

One has been given a second chance. Thanks to you.

Right now there’s a gray who needs you.

Your star or reply says ‘I’m here to help.’

Please star or reply to a cool gray. Thank you.

Also, my list is still a thing if you’d like.

Have a wonderful New Years Eve, everyone and take good care of yourselves and each other.

May 2016 be so much better for all of us.

I was planning on going out with my sis but she changed her mind. Also bars are packed with drunk assholes, and going out sucks. So I’m staying home, and I think i’m ok with it. What are you guys up to?

Home! Right now we're watching The Sandlot with the kids. Later? Not sure. Probably bed before midnight. Because I'm old and tired and want this year to be OVER.

You guys, I have no champagne.

Completely forgot it while grocery shopping the other day, then meant to go out and get some today, but my Roomba croaked and I couldn’t resist taking it apart to figure out what the problem was. Turned out the gears were clogged with hair.

An easy fix, but by the time I finished, it was 4 PM! And this is one of the worst areas in the nation for drunk driving, so no way was I going out past mid-day on New Year’s Eve (I’ve done it once, and learned my lesson).

There’s plenty of prosecco in the house, since it’s on sale everywhere now, and I do love it, but IT IS NOT THE SAME...

    Darnit.

Me, neither! I took my best bottle of champagne as a gift for a Christmas Eve Party, and my best bottle of prosecco as a gift a a few nights later. I tried to buy some on my way home from work but the wine shop had closed early. So, I’m drinking my usual (chilled Tito’s).

I actually had to buy a new Roomba last year when the old one was so clogged with dog hair that it wasn’t salvageable.

Yay for a social. I was really bummed earlier today about spending NYE alone but this makes it better. So I’m drinking prosecco and baking a cake.

I’m ready for 2015 to go. I have had 3 family deaths, and 2 family friend deaths this year. One of those deaths was my grandfather and it was 11 months of pure hell. That started right after my uncle died. My house broke fucking non stop and I got dumped by the guy I thought I might marry. So fuck you 2015. I won’t be sad to see you go!

Happy New Years Winner and Fanciers. May your next year be better than a last. Stay Happy and Healthy and may all of your dreams come true. Now I sound like a Hallmark card.

Marks post made me tear up. Kinja life won’t be the same.

I am going out to a dance party for NY celebration, same as last year and same as last year I won’t have anyone to kiss at midnight except for myself.

P.S. I might drunk post when I will get home this morning.

Sitting on the couch, drinking Bailey’s & coffee (the only way I drink coffee), and watching Jessica Jones. This show is fucking nuts but probably the best thing Marvel has done yet.

It is so good, isn’t it?

I got so mad at Agents of SHIELD’s first season finale, then the second season premiere. Killing off Victoria Hand and her girlfriend without even identifying them at all?

      For fuck’s sake! Come on!

      Haven’t been watching since.

I didn’t think I could like anything they did more than Avengers (Age of Ultron too because I’m weird like that) or Guardians but this...holy hell. Really makes me wonder what they’re going to do with Defenders.

Quitting SHIELD crossed my mind but I just couldn’t stay away.

    Late to the party!

Happy New Year Jezzies! I am semi sick, staying in watching the new season of Person of Interest that Netflix put up. This week has been total shit. Complete and total shit. I am quite ready for the next year to happen. My sister is flying into LA tomorrow and then I go fetch her on Saturday. I am so damn excited. I love my sister so freaking much and I haven’t gotten to spend time with her, just the two of us in YEARS.

I have also started my pre-braces eating. Had a bunch of seafood with the semi-regular dude last weekend. Sucked on some shrimp heads and all that jazz. Other than the shit week, life has been pretty good.

Drinking some pink prosecco because I fancy like that. Doing some random cleaning too. I live an exciting life!

Thanks love! It’s going to be a year of big changes one way or another. I am a bit excited and scared and all of the magenta emotions that come with lots of changes. My sister coming now is great timing since she is my best sounding board for when I need to make major life decisions.

Hey guys, how’s your night going? I started teacher training last September so I already know this year’s going to be the busiest I’ve had for a long time. Any advice on de-stressing and keeping motivated? Even just advice on how not to cry over nothing when I’m exhausted? (Apparently I’m ‘emotional')

First piece of advice- use this holiday break to rest. Secondly, contrary to what some people would suggest or what people around you are doing, I suggest giving every paper and project 100%. No slacking. You’re there to learn, and the harder you work on writing and research, the more you will retain.

Try to get a small group or content area for yourself. I had cooperating teachers who gave me opportunities to work with the kids and to teach, but not enough practice planning long term. Also, find out where they get materials and lessons from. Keep a resource list. Get copies of things that are useful- data recording forms, anchor charts, etc. Learn their systems, especially organizational systems. That way you won’t be there, in your first year teaching, inventing the wheel in the dark with no tools. Hopefully.

When you receive negative feedback, accept it gracefully. Say thank you. It is a gift. Implement the suggestions you receive.

Get involved with the kids. Have lunch with them. Play kick ball. Tutor kids who need it. The kids are the best part. Don’t be afraid of becoming too attached. You won’t be able to help it.

Teach like your hair is on fire. Have fun!

Honestly, I spent quite a bit of time crying the first year. Crying is normal and a number of teachers I know have experienced that. It will get better but it takes time and experience. Find teachers and other people who can help and support you. This year is rough.
