whoa, I feel like there’s been so much extreme weather lately, both in the US and around the world. have you considered starting a sub-blog just for weather? could be a good idea.

I hope everyone stays safe out there.

I second that idea. I suspect it’s a vane hope, however.

This really is true in the Lou (couldn’t help it). I’m so sick of the bad coverage of STL. It’s a good place with plenty of great people. Sad it takes a natural disaster to get people to feel bad about it.

Not true. Hurricanes hit Ocean front villas pretty regularly. The taxpayer frequently bails out their poor housing location with relief money.

Arcs? There are actually two in the photo. But God certainly didn’t didn’t build them, as the food sold under them is not fit for human consumption.

I live and work along the Meramec (my place of business is currently underwater as I type this) and this is all pretty bad.

I’ll try to upload some pictures of my work’s parking lot from Sunday.

I’m up in central Illinois, and my cousin’s girlfriend was driving home Sunday when she crested a hill and realized that the other side of the hill was flooded out. It took a dive team to free her from her car, cold and terrified but luckily alive after an hour trapped in the water.

It’s been really nasty out here. Areas that typically don’t flood were submerged. Roads that typically stay clear were shut down and covered with water. There were so many water rescues Saturday into Sunday because no one took it seriously at first, which is typical around here. They say take cover a tornado is coming and everyone goes out and sits in the garage to watch it pass. It didn’t stop raining until yesterday evening. I know this afternoon (I think) they sent out an evacuation call through West Alton.

It’s rivaling what we had out here in 1993. I was watching yesterday afternoon and they were sending divers into the sewers to plug them up so the flood water would wash the sewage out. That is not a job I envy, they sent him down into this tiny opening and in a big, bulky suit. It was such a tight squeeze I was anxious for him. They’ve got sandbagging crews going and put the call out for volunteers to help. Stay safe everyone, and if they say don’t go out DON’T GO OUT. People who didn’t think the water was that deep found out real quick that they were wrong. Don’t put yourself and the first responders at risk if you can help it.
