McGinty sat there and fucking blamed the entire thing on Tamir and excused his police force for every one of their crimes. Fuck him, fuck the Cleveland DAs, fuck the Cleveland cops who haven’t spoken out on this, and fuck the Justice Department for not arresting the murderer themselves by now.

Shut the whole fucking city down, BLM. Sit in the highways. Block the public transportation. Lay down in the streets and don’t move until they drag you away in handcuffs, and then do it again.

Don’t let them get away with this.

2 seconds. That’s all it took.

The Rice family attorneys have petitioned the DOJ to investigate Tamir’s death and McGinty’s handling of it, and that is still pending, if I’m not mistaken. I hope they’re successful.

WHAT. THE. FUCK. I’ve seen the video. We have ALL seen the video. They were practically shooting before the car was stopped. Can someone tell me how this is happening? How can the members of a grand jury be so bamboozled as to not believe what is in front of their eyes? FUCK YOU, TIM MCGINTY.

I think it’s less that they’re bamboozled than that they were actively looking for reasons to excuse the poor, misunderstood cops who only murdered a black person, as opposed to committing a “real” crime. Combine that with a prosecutor doing his damnedest to crucify the victim and deify his murderers, and there was an approximately zero percent chance that this child’s family would receive a chance for justice.

Not sure if you have ever served on a Grand Jury. You are completely at the mercy of the DA. You don’t get to consider outside evidence, at all. You have two things to guide you: the District Attorney representative, who advises you on the wording of the law, and the evidence that said DA decides to give you. It’s an incredibly fucked system that puts the burden of providing evidence completely on the shoulders of the prosecutor. If he/she does not bring in evidence that gives “reasonable cause to believe” - as often happens in cases that involve the police, as DAs are dependent on them to provide witnesses and evidence for their other cases - the Grand Jury, by law, is obligated not to indict.

It’s not that the Grand Jury was bamboozled, necessarily. It’s much more likely that the prosecutor said fuck it, I’m going to protect the police here, and presented a shoddy case because of i.

This whole thing is majorly fucked up. First off - the roll right up and start shooting. How the fuck did they yell “Show me your hands” in the span of time between the door opening and the first shots? Also, isn’t Ohio an open carry state? Even if he had a real gun, *he legally is allowed to have said gun in public

An earlier commenter stated that if black males were to purchase firearms en masse, we’d have gun control legislation passed in about fifteen minutes.

And it is true. Open carry is for Caucasians only. Unwritten but understood.

Didn’t the cop claim to have shouted “Show me your hands” TWICE in that span of time?

(Do I need the “/s” tag? I probably need the “/s” tag. Someone yelled at me for making a “When I Am an Old Woman I Shall Wear Purple” joke the other day, for god’s sake.)

They’re not wondering. They’re bitching. They really object to nonwhites exercising their civil rights. Anything constitutional done by POC is a terrible thing . . . especially when it inconveniences a portion of the white community.

Face it, the death of a black child is nothing compared to inconveniencing Christmas shoppers.

If I could only figure out how to throw up into the internet and send it directly onto that fuckstick. He has not only abdicated his role as prosecutor (which is to, y’know, prosecute) but he has acted on behalf of the defense. He presented the evidence to the grand jury, which is basically a tool to say “yes, you have the bare minimum of evidence required to go forth” and he straight up told the grand jury not to indict. This is so beyond shady.

I’d honestly be less offended if he just directly said “Tamir Rice did this to himself by being black..” Because that’s basically what he said.

How dare black kids play in the park? Don’t they know that’s for whites only? That is basically what this prosecutor is saying. He’s blaming Tamir Rice for his own death. Is this an elected position? Can this asshole be voted out of office or is he appointed?

So where are all the 2nd amendment supporters defending his right to hold what appears to be a gun? Oh that’s right, he’s black, clearly one of those ‘bad guys with a gun’ everyone is so sure they can spot.

In post racial America, white embryos have more defenders than black children.

Probably a mix of that, that he’s under age so his right to carry is probably non-existent, and that the cops claim that they thought he was drawing the “weapon” which is generally considered a threatening action.

Except the officer claimed he looked 18, so the officer executed someone he thought could legally open carry. The cops also claimed they gave him multiple warnings, when we know that isn’t true so I don’t trust their word on the events.

This doesn’t surprise me at all. The way the officers approached the scene at the time was reprehensible, but the use of deadly force was justified, regardless of the age of the victim or the fact that the police made a mistake in thinking that the toy gun was real. A regular person could behave the exact same way and not be charged with murder. It doesn’t negate the tragedy of the situation or absolve the officers of what they did. It absolutely could have been handled much better.

But it wasn’t justified at all. You can’t shoot somebody just for carrying a gun.

Wow, America. You guys have some real problems. I have never seen a clearer case of police misjudging a situation and still no charges? I hope whoever took that decision can look in the fucking mirror. I know I wouldn't be able to.

This is so horribly sad, but I can’t say that I’m surprised. My heart goes out to Tamir Rice’s loved ones, and to the community. I’d cry, but I don’t believe I have any tears left at this point.
