On this Rainy Monday from the Bay Area, we are skipping out on Tomas and Lily until Next year...Ill be in and outta the office for the next few days with the holiday lunch season in full swing too.

But on a lil heavier note, I have to attend the funeral for my grandmother tomorrow. She was 82 and had a massive stroke 2 weeks ago. I am 31 years old, and her husband, my grandfather died when I was six. Since he died, I had hardly seen my grandmother except on rare occasions like a funeral or a wedding...but she was my mom’s mom and I dont know how I should really feel about it.

My mom said she was a mean woman, which was true, but that is still my grandmother. I felt as though she had already passed since she was not really an influence on my life after the age of 6.

No birthday cards, no “hey HPNTR, come over for some juice and cookies” none of that. It was like her grandchildren did not exist even though my family lived in the same city as her, not even 10 mins cross town.

So I have to attend the funeral tomorrow to pay respects, see the rest of my bat shit cray relatives (one of which just got out of the joint 6 weeks ago and threatened to beat the shit out of my mom at the hospital when my grandma fell ill).

So here I type...kind of weirded out by my lack of sadness but is it warranted?

  My grandmother was abusive to my mom. As an adult my mom cut off contact with her so I never saw her. Grandma was mean and manipulative. If you couldn’t play Skip Bo you were worthless in her eyes.
  
  When she died I didn’t know her enough to care. Which sounds bad, but I never had any good associated with her. My mom didn’t seem to broken up, but went to the funeral to support her sister and brother. Not sure if her second brother even went.
  
  I get where your coming from, and I don’t think it’s that unusual. Be supportive but don’t feel weird about your lack of sadness.
