SNS woot! Jezzies, what are you excited about giving or getting? I got my oldest some vintage vinyl including classic Sugarhill gang and P Funk. Also scored an original 1984 Sammy Hagar I can’t Drive 55 t-shirt since another kid just got 2 speeding tickets. I’m wearing Comme des Garcons Zagorsk for the first time based on CollierLA’s rec and I LOVE IT. Gonna drink some Tito’s and wrap presents. Cheers, y’all!

OMG ZAGORSK. I want like every single one of their incense line. Allllllll of them.

I got my cousins both cute monogrammed makeup bags filled with a ton of Good Shit — a Lipstick Queen, Chi Chi Viva La Diva lipstick, 3 Concept and Etude House lipsticks, Colourpop ditto plus a highlighter, TCFS Dinoplatz mascara and blotting paper compact, ArtDeco lipstick, nail buffers and mini glass files and it’s all SO FUN. I hope they lurve them. I mean, *I* would love them...?

PS I’m wearing zero makeup myself now, except for smears of Armani Eye Tint in Silver Mirage, which just came in the mail today. <<<333

I also ordered a sampler of Tom Ford private blends (Tobacco Vanilla and 4 others) from Surrender to Chance. AND I just bought Duran Duran tickets. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO MEEEEEEE.

Hey Jezzies, whatcha drinking? Haven’t decided on beer or a dirty martini yet.

My nietus was born! Lexi was eight pounds, adorable, and has huge feet. I love her to pieces. I’m kinda mad at my BIL for leaving his wife and going to see the new Star Wars movie though. Ugh! Men! Lexi and my SIL just got home!

Windsor was lovely. I did a lot of shopping, I saw a nun in her full penguin gear gambling, and I ate some awesome food. Plus, poutine chips! I’m going to start my pierogi-thon tomorrow. I so cannot wait. ‘Twill be the absolute best. I feel like gówno today so I’m recuperating before the cooking shall commence.

I am 85% finished with my giftmas shopping. I still have to get something for my one brother, something else for Cindymoo, stuff for my SIL and BIL and stuff for my niece. And the wrapping, of course. Everything else is finished. How’s your giftmas shopping going?

no xmas shopping because we don’t celebrate! woo! spending next week in a cabin in colorado. can’t wait.

PS go for the dirty martini. delicious. always the right choice.

      Oooh! Pierogi-thon?

I’m having a pale ale from the new local brewery. It’s nice. Tomorrow I’ll worry about Xmas shopping, but I only have a couple of actual gifts left to buy. The rest are gift cards and donations.

alright, i need help. i need to exercise. i hate it. i am sorta fat and out of shape and the gym intimidates me. i have zero motivation but every time my pant size increases or i look at myself in the mirror i feel terrible. i don’t have any friends to go with. how do i start??? i can’t wake up early to exercise before work. when i get home it’s dark and i don’t really feel comfortable walking outside in the dark. how can i get motivated??? how do i find something i like? how do i do yoga or whatever and not feel absurdly fat and self conscious??

I only started working out 15 years ago because an ex boyfriend told me I was fat. That said, I went to the gym with a friend for a while and just did the elliptical. Much later I started running and found that I loved it. It’s just trial and error to some extent. Do you have a friend to work out with? Ellipticals or walking are a good place to start, but I understand not wanting to do it alone/in the winter.

Why not try some various play-along-at-home workout vids on YouTube? I bet someone here can recommend a series of cardio / yoga / whatever — find something you like, then maybe sign up for a “real” class?

I’m gonna show off a little tonight. Mr. Bells’ office just had their holiday party, Oscar Night themed. I decided to go all-out and whipped this up in a week.

I am an emerald yuletide goddess! and also this was like wearing velvet sweats all night. I want to wear it every day now.

Jezzies I pulled the trigger on operation: baby kitten! He is the one getting pushed away by his brother. I am SO EXCITED! He can come home Valentine’s Day week and I am nervous. I’ve never had a cat before! I’ve never even had a pet before. I did a lot of research and I feel prepared, but what if I regret it? What if I can’t figure out what he wants and he hates me? Tell me about your first kitten!

    Hi Jezzies!

It’s my first SNS post and I just wanted to say hi! I am a long time reader and an infrequent commenter and I just wanted to officially thank many of the regular commenters for making me smile, laugh, or spit out whatever beverage I happen to be consuming. This site is the only place on the internet where I can learn as much or more from the commenters as I can from the article.

That being said, I had something SNS worthy happen to me this week! I had an IUD placed! I didn’t realize it would be such a scheduling ordeal it was scheduled for Monday but I didn’t have my period (which usually comes by Tuesday afternoon) so no one would place it. I had waited months for this appointment, and there were no openings in the office until March.

I almost gave up and then I remembered....PLANNED PARENTHOOD! I called them Monday afternoon, got an appointment for an assessment on Tuesday and a placement on Wednesday. I normally donate to PP via amazon smile, and then occasionally throughout the year, but this experience solidified the need for me to make monthly donations. Every single person that worked there was kind, took their time, explained things, and treated me with the utmost dignity and respect. Maybe this should happen in all health care settings, but usually I feel like I’m part of a herd of cattle being ushered through waiting rooms and exam rooms to see a physician.

Their forms were completely comprehensive as well - allowing for patients to select gender and preferred pronouns (with blanks to write it in if the preferred options were not already listed). I was given multiple pamphlets on the IUDs they had and I had a session with an educational counselor as part of the visit to discuss my preferences. I also got a handy goodie bag with condoms, lube and a female condom (honestly never seen a female condom before)! I just wish more offices were like this. I will no longer be going anywhere else for my reproductive health.

There was an old guy outside the clinic with a sign when I left: “Abortion: KILLING OUR OWN BABIES.” I flicked him off.

Welcome! I too am a longtime lurker and am trying to comment more frequently. This is the only place I’ve found online where reading the comments is actually enriching.

Way to go! Have been toying with the IUD thing myself, sounds like you’ve had a good experience so far. And isn’t PP the best? They’ve always been nice to me and with all of the shit going down lately, donating feels even more important.

    Good evening fellow Inside Jezzies!

My SO left for his home town earlier today (for ten days!) and I am 90% sure that I’m bailing on both holiday parties I’m supposed to attend tonight. It’s cold, it’s dark, and I have been in sweats since getting back from the grocery this afternoon. I’m watching Obvious Child and making Cheeseburger Helper; socializing is looking less and less appealing as the hours tick by.

Is anyone else avoiding people tonight?

Jealous of you. I have plans and they are with a friend who’s visiting from another state so I can’t flake. But I’d LOVE to. If there was a group of us and my absence wouldn’t be so obvious, I’d definitely curl up under a blanket, watch Netflix, and maybe even order pizza. Ahhh.

It’s just so hard to leave the house with no sunlight and low temperatures! Hope you get a quiet night in tomorrow and tonight ends up being more fun than you were expecting :) If you’re like me it’s easier to commit to a one-on-one night out than a big group outing because, like you said, your absence wouldn’t be quite as obvious. Will wrap up extra tight under my blankets for you!

The voice is definitely involved. I also really dig the hair, which obscures his rather large ears. He’s also quite tall which...yes, just yes. Yes. It’s all working for me.

Oh man. I just wanted to say that I am so over Star Wars. I was pretty indifferent to the franchise prior to the last week or so. Now I can’t handle it.

I’ve been home alone all day because my friends decided to watch all six movies today. Since that sounds like torture no matter how much beer I consume, I’ve been in and out of sleep all day on my couch.

I also found out last night that they are making a zillion more of these?

And I thought it was universally decided that the prequels were bad. So why is everyone pumped about this one?

I can’t wait until Monday after my friends have seen it and I can go back to pretending it doesn’t exist.

On another note, I'm thinking of ordering sushi for dinner.

THANK YOU! I know this is going to be The Most Unpopular Opinion Ever, but I can’t take anything Star Wars related anymore! I CAN’T. We get it, it came out, it’s here, but for fuck’s sake, can ANYONE talk about anything (literally anything) else, please? Everywhere I turn in the real world, Star Wars. I go online, Star Wars. Talking to friends, Star Wars. Going shopping, Star Wars. And this has been going on for months. Enough already.

I’m starring this just because I get the feeling of not liking something popular. Hopefully it will be over in a week or two and you won’t have to worry about it for a year... Much the same way I feel about the NBA or the NFL. :)
