He is Saudi. I mention this because he belongs to the elite group of Saudi millionaires that systematically get away with abusing women they deem to be lesser than them either at home or abroad. In that sense, Google would prove he is part of a longstanding tradition.

But god forbid we actually mention it in an article and step on their lovely culture of treating women like cattle. What racists we would be if we didn’t love and respect a culture that treats women as less valuable than horses with roughly the same rights.

Most incredibly rich men in this situation would probably get away with this as well. That he happens to be Saudi as well just gets him bonus points.

Well honestly, who hasn’t this happened to? I can’t remember the number of times some random weirdo’s penis has gone flying out at me against the will of the owner.

I had the exact same thought. Except, I’m a penis owner. It has done some things against my will, but it’s never flown out at anyone. I’ve certainty never fallen on anyone. Well, I have, but not with my penis out.

I mean, I’m not some random weirdo.

      .

I should probably just go now.

Lol why the judge? It was the jury that decided this case.

(But other than that, I echo your sentiment. I hope she gets a retrial.)

Wow, and I thought in 2015 we women were seen as more than seductive she devils, that exist only to tempt men. I mean sometimes I am a seductive she devil, but never when I’m sleeping or passed out drunk somewhere.

Also, it is absolutely impossible for a man to ever fall upon a woman and somehow also slide into her vagina. Unless, said woman has some really strange physical anatomy...like really strange...in fact it would be so strange that it would have to be alien and unless she was sleeping with her legs over her head, it would have to be located exactly vertically from her belly button and you know what, I am done with thinking about this.

I just have to end this with saying thank you stupid people for letting a rapist go free. Even if his story could be true, (NEVER) he still raped her “accidental” penetration is still penetration, and he admitted to doing so. I could accidentally stab someone in the neck and they could die, I could still go to jail, unless I’m like this guy and say that the other person ran into my knife, that just happened to be poking out of my hand at neck height. That sounds like it could be true right?

While you’re clearly correct that a man can’t just fall on a woman and have his penis go inside her, if that were to happen it would not in fact be rape as neither the requisite intent nor the physical voluntariness would be present. Not to say I buy this story* but if the jury did, not guilty was the correct verdict.

*to be clear, I don’t buy the story as presented here, but it’s entirely possible that what’s going on here is a game of telephone between a number of news sources more interested in sensationalism than accuracy and the real story is a little less clear. The 30 minute deliberation followed by a not guilty verdict makes me more than a little suspicious of this account.

If this story were true and he did in fact fall “into” a woman he would have had to be erect. That in itself would show physical voluntariness, because with this story being as crazy as it is, he would not have fallen into a woman and not be erect.

Also, with my example of the knife, it’s not always about intent sometimes it’s about results. I might not get murder 1, but I would probably get something.

If this isn’t the telephone game at work, and I am not going down the rabbit hole that is this story because I will just be angry and why should I do that to myself? If he had this story from the start seems like he should have had multiple charges, at least rape and a sexual assault charge. I don’t know how the justice system works in England though, so not sure if they stack charges like we do here.

I may be missing something here, but from what I’ve read about this case, he was tried by a Jury of Brits, in London. So the narrative so many are spewing, that this guy is a rich Saud dickhead (true) and that rich Saudis abroad often operate without reproach for their shitty behaviour (also true) doesn’t really apply. What, did he buy the jury? Did he personally pay off that many people to not legally condemn a fucking obvious rapist asshole? There might have been some influence upon the judge (or not?), but that doesn’t appear to have been the deciding factor in this case.

No, I think the truth of things is that, while Islamic jurisprudence is generally shit, and that the endorsement of Wahhabi Petro-Islam by the House of Saud absolutely emboldens assholes precisely like this one to get away with nearly every wretched thing, condemnation of Saudi religious patriarchy fails to suffice in this case.

The insidious banality of it all is that the facts were presented to a Western jury, whereupon a he-said, she-said ensued, and even when presented with seminal evidence, it’s fucking difficult for a woman -in 2015- to make a case that she was raped. Because, regardless of what testimony was presented, many in that Jury believed that she “knew what she was getting into”, that “she probably deserved whatever was coming to her because she was drinking” and that she was “probably just looking for a payday” because remember that one about the young girl who totally became rich and happy because she was penetrated against her will?

Precisely. There’s nothing particularly “Saudi” about this case. The problem with it was the same problem with every jury-based western rape case. The guy’s race and relative wealth seem to have little to do with it. A British jury is more likely to convict a rich asshole, especially a foreign one.

This is a perfect situation for vigilante justice. Think you are above the law because you are rich? You’ll wish you hadn’t bought your way out of jail when you are left in an alley a bloody, broken mess. That is the only way to stop these fuckers. After this happens to a few different guys they will either start facing the justice system more fairly and do their time or maybe think twice before breaking the law.

Is it relevant that this guy is a Saudi? From a land that explicitly devalues women and requires 4 MALE witnesses to corroborate a rape? Yes.

And yet no mention of it in this article, likely to avoid appearing “islamophobic.”
