    Day 311:

    You know how I was literally dying yesterday? I worked nine hours without a break and then went home and tried relaxing but got my period.

    I double am dying right now.

    And

    AND.

    And I have nearly an entire two liter of Diet Dr. Pepper in me so I have Caffeine Rage toooooooooooooooooo.

    I could really go for some cashew ice cream right now.

    It has been warmer, today, in the high 40s. The snow has started to melt on the front nine of The Heritage. The paths on the course are frequented by people in the office park who like to get in scenic strolls at midday, and the groundskeeping crew is very good about keeping them swept clean of snow. They were doing touch-ups at lunchtime. My Severus Snape wand came in the mail yesterday, and it has become my new favorite desk accessory. I can (theoretically) make people and things vanish (evanesco) or move them about (mobilicorpus) at will, which is crucial in a demanding office environment such as mine where people need to move or go away on a frequent basis. Fun Fact: neither the type of wood, nor the core material of Snape’s wand is known.

    Chapter 2 Part XIII

    “Lee... what are you doing here?” Tater asked.

    Lee smiled and pulled Tater into a hug saying “Memorykid9 and I go way back. He knew that you used to be my girl and texted me, asking if I wanted in on helping rescue your parents.”

    Tater pulled away and stared at Lee. “I can’t believe you’re here right now.”

    Lee laughed, “I told you I wanted to see you again before I headed out. But all I wanted was coffee or that coconut kefir your mom makes.”

    Tater laughed for a moment before breaking down in tears. Lee looked at her with concern asking, “Are you alright?”

    “It’s just so much Lee. I can’t wrap my head around everything that I’ve learned today.” Tater said quietly.

    “Let’s just focus on one thing at time okay? First these guys are going to verify your parents location and then the three of us will head out with this Leoben fellow.” Lee stated.

    “Three?” Tater asked.

    “You didn’t think I’d let you come with us did you?” Lee ask, “It could be dangerous Tater and you are too special and important to allow to come. You’re safe here. You can stay in the panic room. No one will be able to get to you.”

    UP returned geared up in uniform. “I’ve got Leoben locked up in the hovercraft, time for you to change Lee. Memorykid9 is doing the final checks before we head out.”

    Lee hugged Tater one more time, “UP is going to take you to the panic room, you’ll be in radio contact with us for the entire time. I put a stash of almond cookies and some oat cups in case you get hungry.”

    Tater watched Lee walk away, wishing she had the mental capacity to say something to disagree with him. With the events of the day, she was starting to feel tired. UP put an arm around her reassuringly and walking her over to a panel and entering a combination code that made a wall slide open.

    Inside was a very comfortably appointed room in all white and beige furniture. Fringed pillows accented the long couch and a large pitcher of water sat on the coffee table next to some glasses and a stack of magazines. A computer sat on an end table. There were no windows, but it was lit in a warm, inviting manner.

    “This room is completely self contained, bathroom is over there,” UP advised waving to a door on the other side. “if you get hungry the cabinets are over there with a built in microwave and stove. I doubt we will be gone for very long. In the event of attack, this room will detach itself from the building and float into the upper atmosphere. But I doubt it should come to that. You can hear us and see what we are doing on the computer. If you need to reach us, just call.”

    UP gave Tater a hug and said before leaving. “Don’t worry, we are very good at what we do.”
