      Done.

Who else has the backbone to do the same?

Dividends were great, but not worth the destruction of life on this planet.

Eh. They’ll just destroy the planet with someone else’s money. You’d really just be divesting in order to absolve yourself of blame, right?

Instead, leverage investment to save the world in greater proportion. It’s the only way to win. Oh and also vote your shares in a worldsaverly direction

I sincerely doubt that Exxon has run out of birds and whales to kill. There’s still, like, a few of them left. But it’s not like there’s one guy there! They can walk and chew gum at the same time. It’s not like Mr. VP of PR is out there personally pouring oil all over the place. They have people for that.

It’s heartbreaking to see Exxon go after endangered species like this. But enough about graduate journalism students . . .

Now that’s really unfair to Exxon, why would you diminish shareholder value by hiring someone to spread oil around when it can do it all by itself when you save money by not performing maintenance or hiring inspectors?

But, really, it’s about ethics in climate change journalism.

Hey, don’t you know violating ethics is all well and good, but if you report on it, well that breaches all codes.

After guns, climate change is the #1 threat to society.

I feel pretty confident in saying these are not the first journalists, nor the first recipients of sponsorship/advertisement monies, to receive such a letter from Exxon.

The cover-up is always worse, and instead of the actual “responsible parties” facing consequences, it’s some damn schlub who was told “cover this up” who ends up getting punished.. or no one...

The interactions [between Exxon and the Columbia journalists] detailed above are not typical of the high standards and ethical behavior we have come to expect from your institution.

              This is the funniest part.
