      No, he just abused his position as one of the leaders in NY State government for several decades, and stood by while his friend was looting a charity set up for the poor. And stopped construction of affordable housing so some rich developers could become richer while poor and lower income New Yorkers had to stretch their incomes, go to a shelter, or move away from their families because there was no place affordable to live. Plus a myriad of other crimes and fuckery that either wasn’t actually a crime or for which there was no evidence. I’d say he deserves the vitriol. Read up on him a bit.

    Taking a cue from some Presidential candidates, Silver told a reporter, “I’m so pleased to have been found innocent. I have hundreds of people who say I’m innocent. The jury found me not guilty. I’m going home tonight and I’ll be back at work in Albany first thing tomorrow morning. I am very successful in being found innocent of all charges everywhere all the time.”

        You’d be surprised at how little people get convicted for. A few years ago, a whole slew of up and coming NY pols went down for payments as low as $10k. In any event, Shelly has likely been stealing for years, this is just what they could prove. And he certainly has been involved in other fuckery, just most of it is apparently legal. Look into how he kept low income housing out of his district for decades in favor of a developed who was looking to build a shopping center. Along with his buddy, Bill Rapfogel, who went to jail (and is now released) for stealing from a charity for the poor!
