Depends on the pigment of the shooter’s skin. They could just be mentally ill.

I read an article saying the shooter was contained, so was that incorrect? This is so infuriating. After the burning down of the PP clinic in Washington State, the CMP fuckheads and their videos, and our rights being taken away one by one, now we have someone actively trying to kill people to try and... say that fetuses and people and you’re murdering them with an abortion and that’s wrong? Fuck that noise, and fuck these people.

I believe the shooter is in the PP building, as are some police officers. Maybe a hostage situation. (I’m in Colorado Springs, and this area is a shopping center with a street that separates it from the PP - it’s on my route to everywhere else.). Four officers have been injured, but no word if anyone was killed yet.

CNN guy says we don’t know if this a targeted attack against PP (which is true at this moment), then goes on to say that this is not the way to express the “legitimate” disagreement with the “barbaric practices” shown in those PP videos. This from the “liberal media.” Tinfoil hat crowd is already alerting True Patriots to this false-flag Obama-sponsored distraction. *sigh

If only those wicked women hadn’t aborted their babies, each baby could have leaped out of its womb, grabbed a nearby gun, and taken the shooter down.

I had my abortion at this Planned Parenthood. I was so blown away by the professionalism of the staff that day-it was a traumatic experience in my life at the time (I was poor and in an abusive relationship)-but the care I received was top notch. It makes me sick to my stomach that someone (hell, lots of people) would want to stop the good work that PP does.

You don’t need to explain your reasons. :) When I had mine, we were instructed to park in the back “secret parking” so that if there were protesters they wouldn’t know what our car looked like. It’s so awful, these places are so great to so many women.

I’m watching coverage on cable news and they keep showing people (mostly women) being evacuated from the building. Their faces are clearly showing and I kind of worry that forced-birthers watching this will recognize and target women simply because they dared to be at a Planned Parenthood clinic.

When I worked at PP this was my biggest fear. When you can’t wear your name tag outside of the building, you know you’re in a “scary” place.

Even if you don’t work for one anymore, you’re awesome. I triply love and support PP staff after finally visiting one last week. In all my years going to doctor’s appointments, I’ve never felt more at ease than last week. So all y’all -current or former- are A++ eggs in my book.

PP was my primary health care provider for a few years when I had no insurance. Once I arrived for an appointment and they warned me they had received bomb threats so I could reschedule if I wanted, but all the staff were there doing their jobs just the same. You rock. It’s just insane to think someone out there thinks I deserve being blown up for going in for a pap.

The Denver Post reports at least three police officers have been injured, as well as multiple civilians.

I hate the use of “civilians” sometimes. I understand why it’s used but it always makes me think of war zones and battlefields. These people aren’t civilians. They’re residents, they’re employees, they’re citizens. It feeds into the militarization of our police and our society. Though I guess it makes a depressing kind of sense since everything from a school to a movie theater can be a place of gun violence now.

Some of it is also that Colorado Springs biggest business and employer is the military. We have many bases and posts - the language here is super-militarized. So that’s part of it.

That’s precisely why they use it, though. Everyone knows that in a warzone or battlefield, civilians are entitled to special protections. The term civilians is used throughout the Geneva Conventions. I actually like it when they use the term “civilians” because I think it appropriately reminds us of how heinous these crimes are.

I was just at a PP last week (I was just finishing up about this time and heading out to grab some lunch), so this feels especially scary for me to think about. Different location, obviously, but the people were wonderful, they made me feel comfortable and safe, and I couldn’t imagine them being caught in the middle of something like this.

Precisely. Preaching to the choir here, but it only hurts the most vulnerable people. I live in the sticks, and it is a royal pain to get to a PP. But the clinic in my town has a 2-3 month wait just for an *initial* visit, and probably another few weeks’ wait for a well-woman exam. PP was able to get me in relatively quickly (once my schedule settled down), treated me well, and I couldn’t be happier. (Although I had to laugh at the two dozen condoms and full-size tube of lube they stocked me up with. That just added extra brownie points, and while I get why they do it, a tiny part of me wondered just how much sex they thought I was having...)
