Whether you’re in Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Gaza or Sinai, it’s very, very tough to defeat Islamic radicals who hide behind civilians. There’s no way you won’t kill civilians, unfortunately.

Especially not if you’re not even putting the most minimal effort into vetting your targets and instead bullshit some nonsense about people hiding behind civilians. It’s hilarious when people with nothing but contempt for the laws of war bitch and moan about other people supposedly not abiding by them.

Maybe, just maybe, there is a better way to ‘defeat’ radicals than just killing them and anyone standing nearby. Just spitballing here, but maybe violence begets violence. I don’t have the answers. I certainly make no claims to know the best way, but I can’t help feeling that maybe there is another way and maybe we have to work on finding it, instead of just slaughtering everyone and hoping that this time it will result in world peace.

Suspended... I’d hate to see what it takes to get fired.

If you wanted most people not to pay attention to a story, when would you release it?

That took me a second to catch on, but excellent point.

The Kunduz strike still warrants a criminal investigation into possible war crimes, but the Pentagon did not clarify whether recommendations made to senior commanders include possible criminal investigations.

Does it matter, since the U.S. hasn’t ratified the International Criminal Court’s Rome Statute?

“internal investigations found that those who called in the airstrike violated U.S. rules of engagement and used force that was disproportionate to the threat,”

But not...you know...killing innocent doctors. The problem was actually they killed them too hard.

A criminal investigation into war crimes is exactly what’s needed. Bit it will never happen. Never be let happen. Further perpetuating the criminality of this tragedy.
