      Yeah! Let’s explicitly descriminate against fleeing Syrian men. Let’s send them away, rejected and angry that we don’t trust them straight into the arms of the extremists who can point to this and say “see? We’re right. They DON’T like you. But we like you. Just put this vest on and you can show them all how wrong they were to do this.”

          Oh, there are the usual zealots, but zealousness is not socially rewarded here. A Catholic school in my area got zinged a few years back for offering grades in return for attending abortion protests.

          There are lots of good things about Canada, but it bothers me when people pretend we're perfect. We're nice, yes, but so are a lot of Americans. There's good and bad things about both countries.

            This is the kind of thing that fuels MRA nightmares. For those many peaceful, nonviolent, victimized young male unattached refugees, I am sorry the world views you as expendable and expects you to draft yourself into a nonexistent army in order to defend your space in the world. I would imagine that we will see a spike of convenience marriages among widows with children and unattached young men. People will do what they must to survive.
